A first liquefied hydrocarbon stream is provided from a first source and a second liquefied hydrocarbon stream is provided from a second source. The second liquefied hydrocarbon stream has been liquefied by cooling solely against a first cooled nitrogen-based stream. The first and second liquefied hydrocarbon streams are gasified to produce a gasified hydrocarbon stream, thereby cooling a gaseous nitrogen-based stream against the gasifying first and second liquefied hydrocarbon streams to provide a second cooled nitrogen-based stream.

A method for vaporizing a liquid stream includes cycling a heat transfer fluid in a closed circuit; feeding the heat transfer fluid to a first heat transfer zone; feeding a liquid stream to be vaporized to the first heat transfer zone; providing heat from the heat transfer fluid to the liquid stream in the first heat transfer zone thereby vaporizing the liquid stream and at least partially condensing the heat transfer fluid; removing the vaporized liquid stream and the at least partially condensed heat transfer fluid and passing the latter to a second heat transfer zone; providing heat from ambient air to the at least partially condensed heat transfer fluid thereby vaporizing the heat transfer fluid; recycling the vaporized heat transfer fluid to the first heat transfer zone using gravitational force exerted on the heat transfer fluid being cycled in the closed circuit.

A process for removing contaminants from a natural gas feed stream including water and sour species is provided, which process comprises the steps of cooling the natural gas feed stream in a first vessel () to a first operating temperature at which hydrates are formed and removing from the first vessel () a stream of dehydrated gas (); and cooling the dehydrated gas in a second vessel () to a second operating temperature at which solids of the sour species are formed or at which the sour species dissolve in a liquid and removing from the second vessel () a stream of dehydrated sweetened gas ().

Removing contaminants from natural gas

A floating plant for liquefying natural gas having a barge provided with a liquefaction plant, member for receiving natural gas and with member for storing and discharging liquefied natural gas. The liquefaction plant involves a heat exchange in which heat is removed when liquefying natural gas is transferred to water. The barge is further provided with a receptacle; an open-ended water intake conduit having an inlet; a connecting conduit extending from the outlet of the water intake conduit to the receptacle; a pump for transporting water from the receptacle to the heat exchanger and a water discharge system for discharging water removed from the heat exchanger. The connecting conduit has the shape of an inverted &ldquo;U&rdquo; of which the top is located above the receptacle.
