A compressible electrical contact, manufactured from a tube, includes a first contact end, a second contact end opposing the first contact end, and a medial portion disposed between the first contact end and the second contact end. The medial portion includes a plurality of divaricated cut sections based on at least one divaricating pattern cut into the tube. The at least one divaricating pattern preferably includes an upper tapered section and a lower tapered section such that a plurality of tapered slots are formed after the tube is cut and when the compressible electrical contact is substantially compressed.

Various configurations of connector assemblies are disclosed herein. Each variation of connector assembly includes at least one conductive outer housing, one or more dielectrics, and conductors, some of which may be configured as compressible electrical contacts manufactured from a tube. One embodiment of the compressible electrical contact includes a first contact end, a second contact end opposing the first contact end, and a plurality of cut sections defined by at least one cut angle measured between a pair of outwardly extending opposing inner surfaces, an innermost cut distance, and an outermost cut distance. Each of the plurality of divaricated-cut sections is based on at least one divaricating pattern.

A method for making an RF connector having an outer conductor and an inner conductor includes the steps of plating the outer conductor and the inner conductor of the RF connector with at least one corrosion-resistant metallic material; dispensing and/or injecting a material comprising an epoxy phenol novolac based resin. in a volume between the outer conductor and the inner conductor of the connector; heating the RF connector with the injected material to a temperature between about 150&#xb0; C. to about 380&#xb0; C. in a substantially dry nitrogen-based environment; and allowing the RF connector to cool.

Compressible electrical contact

A radio frequency (RF) connector pin assembly is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the RF connector pin assembly includes a first dielectric, a second dielectric, and a contact pin positioned in a housing. The contact pin has a first pin section, a second pin section, and an annular collar. Axial movement of the contact pin is limited by the annular collar moving in a gap between the first and second dielectrics. The first pin section is adapted to provide electrical continuity with an external component, for example, a connector, and the second pin section terminates distally in a connection feature, which may be connected to an external structure, for example, a printed circuit board (PCB). The contact pin axially moves, or floats, in response to movement of the connection feature by engagement with the external structure. Multiple housings may be independently removably mounted in a block with independently movable contact pins.

Radio frequency (RF) connector pin assembly

An insulator for a coaxial connector is disclosed. The insulator is constructed of dielectric material laser cut into a plurality of sections such that the insulator is able to move laterally, transversely, and rotationally to accommodate gimballing and radial misalignment of a transmission medium connected to the coaxial connector while maintaining dielectric properties to insulate and separate components of the coaxial connector.

An insulator for a coaxial connector is disclosed. The insulator is adapted to connect to a coaxial transmission medium to form an electrically conductive path between the transmission medium and the coaxial connector. The insulator is constructed of dielectric material. A laser-cut pattern in the insulator produces voids in the dielectric material such that air is incorporated into the insulator. The insulator has a composite tangent delta and a composite dielectric constant based on a combination of the dielectric material and the air and maintains dielectric properties to insulate and separate components of the coaxial connector.

A coaxial interconnect and contact are provided. The coaxial contact is patterned to define a plurality of openings along its longitudinal length. An inner surface of the contact may circumferentially engage an outer surface of a mating contact, wherein such engagement causes at least a portion of the contact to flex radially outwardly. The contact may also flex in the longitudinal or axial direction.

Blind mate interconnect and contact

The differential pair system includes a push-on high frequency differential interconnect and push-on high frequency differential connector. The system allows for blind mating of the two components, using a keying system for the two electrical conductors to be axially and radially aligned.

A coaxial interconnect and contact are provided. The coaxial contact is patterned to define a plurality of openings along its longitudinal length. An inner surface of the contact can circumferentially engage an outer surface of a mating contact, wherein such engagement causes at least a portion of the contact to flex radially outwardly. The contact can also flex in the longitudinal or axial direction.

An electrical connector has a first and second connector body. A tool fits over the first connector body to assist in demating the two connector bodies from one another. Compressing the tool compresses spring fingers in one of the connector bodies, allowing the connector bodies to be easily demated from one another without excessive force and damaging printed circuit boards to which the connector may be connected.

A male connector interface which requires a low extraction force to remove the male interface from a mating female connector interface. The male connector interface has a tubular housing with an inner surface with a first inner diameter region having an inner diameter and an increased inner diameter region having a first end disposed directly adjacent the first inner diameter region and extending to the distal end of the housing for an axial length, wherein the first inner diameter region and the first end of the increased inner diameter region define a shoulder facing the distal end of the housing, and the increased inner diameter region has a first tapered portion disposed at the first end and increasing in diameter toward the distal end, the first tapered portion defining a first frustoconical portion of the longitudinal bore.

A multiple position push-on electrical connector has a housing and at least two sets of bores extending through the housing. The connector also includes a plurality of electrical conductors that extend beyond a first face of the connector and are electrically insulated from the housing. The electrical conductors are capable of transmitting DC signals through the connector. A multiple position push-on electrical mating connector has housing, a first set of bores extending through the housing and a plurality of electrical conductors for transmitting DC signals through the housing. The two connectors are preferably configured to mate with one another and communicate with a device to which the multiple position push-on electrical connector is connected.
