An adhesive ostomy wafer includes a first adhesive, a skin-facing adhesive located proximal of the first adhesive, and a neutralizer located in an envelope that is contained by the first adhesive and the skin-facing adhesive. The adhesive ostomy wafer includes a stoma-receiving hole formed through wafer such that the first adhesive, the neutralizer, and the skin-facing adhesive are exposed within the stoma-receiving hole.

A system for preserving functionality of a skin-engageable element for attachment to a skin portion of a user during storage including a skin-engageable element and a protective element having discrete portions projecting therefrom. The discrete portions are adapted to engage with through-going passages in an adhesive layer of the skin-engageable element, and ensure that the passages are open and passable when the protective element is removed before use of the skin-engageable element. A protective element attachable to a proximal adhesive side of a skin-engageable element for attachment to a skin portion of a user is also disclosed.

An adhesive wafer for an ostomy device, the wafer comprising a first adhesive layer, a backing layer on the distal side of the first adhesive layer, a second skin facing adhesive layer and a hole for accommodating a stoma. Embedded between the adhesive layers is a release layer capable of releasing a neutralizing compound to the peristomal skin.

A method of preparing an adhesive wound dressing, the dressing comprising a central portion and an edge portion, the method comprising the steps of providing a support layer, drawing the support layer into a mold and dispensing a portion of uncured adhesive over the mold, distributing the adhesive in the mold and removing excess adhesive. The adhesive is cured and the support layer is detached from the mold. The central portion is provided with a plurality of through-going holes and an absorbent pad is placed on the non-adhesive side of the central portion and finally a backing layer is laminated to the absorbent pad and the edge portion of the support layer.

An adhesive patch configured to attach an ostomy appliance to a patient includes a peripheral rim disposed around a central hole that is attachable to a stoma of the patient; and a band of adhesive extending from the peripheral rim to an inner border of the adhesive patch and having a pattern of curvilinear indentations extending to the peripheral rim of the patch.

A skin plate product is provided, which can be better tailored with respect to controlling the properties of the first and second surfaces by cutting holes in an adhesive matrix with a laser and subsequently filling these holes with a second material. Preferably at least one zone of the second material extends from the top surface to the bottom surface of the adhesive, with an exposed part of the second material at the top surface having a different pattern than an exposed part of the second material at the bottom surface. The zones are formed as bodies of frustums of cones having their basis at the same surface.

Ostomy plug

The invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer or pad for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer or pad having a hole for receiving a stoma, and an optionally separately exchangeable receiving member or bag secured to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the ostomy, said ostomy appliance further comprising a sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma wherein the sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma, said sealing member having a hole for accommodating the stoma and said sealing member having balanced plastic and elastic properties allowing an adaptation of the hole of the ostomy appliance to a stoma by a temporary enlarging the hole by everting or rolling up the inner rim of the hole for accommodating the stoma. When the ostomy appliance of the invention has been placed over and around the stoma the adhesive sealing member may recover essentially to the original form to fit snugly to the stoma. Preferably at least the area of a release liner covering the separate sealing member is provided with a guide for adaptation of the hole of an ostomy appliance to the size of an ostomy, said guide being visible from the side of the release liner facing the sealing member.
