An indexable insert has a triangular shape with a top surface and a bottom surface, as well as a circumferential surface that connects said the top and bottom surfaces, and cutting edges around the corners. At least in the region of its edges on the top and bottom surface, the indexable insert is identical such that all six cutting edges can be used for the same rotational cutting direction. The secondary cutting edges adjoin two main cutting edges and extend at different angles with respect to the same. In addition, a surface corner milling cutter with a corresponding indexable insert is described.

The invention relates to a milling cutting insert having a square or triangular shaped cutting face delimited in the plan view by a peripheral cutting edge having linear cutting edges () and curved cutting corners (). According to the invention, each of the cutting edges () comprises an inclined region () sloping toward a cutting corner (), extending beyond the tangential point () determined by the point at which the linear cutting edge () transitions into a curved cutting corner (), wherein adjacent thereto the cutting edge () rises prior to the point () determined by a cutting corner angle bisector (), wherein said rising region () extends to a cutting edge maximum () on the other side of the cutting corner () on the adjacent cutting edge (), which is linear in plan view, from where the cutting edge () continues, again inclined and sloping downward, resulting in a rotationally symmetric form having identically shaped cutting edges.

Milling cutting insert

The invention relates to a cutting insert for chip-forming machining, of which at least the top surface, on one side, forms the face () and the peripheral, planar side surface, which are located at right angles to one another, form the flanks (), wherein, downstream of a planar face portion () which is adjacent to the flanks and is arranged at a rake angle of 0&#xb0;, the face terminates, via downwardly sloping planar wall portions (), in a lower-level, planar chip-forming base () and, in the direction of the centre, it slopes up, via upwardly sloping planar wall portions (), to a central, planar face plateau (). In order to ensure specific chip formation over the entire region of the cutting insert, it is proposed that a plurality of raised chip-forming elements () are arranged parallel to one another, and at equal spacings, on two mutually opposite, upwardly sloping wall portions () of the face plateau (), and these chip-forming elements have a roof surface (), which slopes down to the chip-forming base (), and downwardly sloping flanks ().

Cutting insert

The invention relates to a cutting insert () with a base, having a supporting surface, a covering surface, at a distance therefrom and side faces (), connecting said surfaces, whereby two or several adjacent surfaces form cutting edges (). According to said invention, the supporting surface is connected in a non-detachable manner to a supporting surface of a cutting plate (), the geometry of which is different from the cutting insert () and suitable for another metal cutting operation.

Cutting insert, in particular, for crankshaft machining

The invention relates to a cutting insert for clamping into a disc-type or strip-shaped tool body, in particular, for milling crankshafts, whereby the insert is substantially cuboid-shaped and has two front faces, two side faces, serving as cutting faces as well as an upper and a lower side face, whereby a convex face is arranged between the front faces and the upper and lower side faces, so that the upper and lower side faces and the convex face form cutting edges each with a side face. According to invention, the cutting insert has an inwardly-tapered face adjoining the convex face, which allows the cutting edge to protrude and tapered chamfers are provided between the inwardly-tapered faces of the front face on both sides of a planar supporting surface to the outer edge.

The invention relates to a cutting insert, in particular for a milling work, with a basic body which respectively has on opposite sides peripheral cutting edges, which protrude beyond the respectively adjoining face regions (), descending at a positive rake angle, in the middle of which one or more planar supporting surfaces () are arranged, and with a central fastening hole () for receiving a tensioning screw. Arranged around the central fastening hole is at least one conical surface (), with a cone descending inwards, i.e. towards the fastening hole.

Cutting insert and milling tool

A cutting insert is formed with a central planar support face, at least three cutting edges spaced outwardly from and around the support face and forming corners, and a land extending along each cutting edge between the respective corners and projecting from the respective cutting edge inward toward the support face. The land has a central region of a relatively great width measured perpendicular to the respective cutting edge and a pair of side regions flanking the central region and each of a relatively narrow width. The great width is equal to between 1.5 and 4 times the narrow width, and the land forms with a plane of the support face an outwardly open negative land angle of at least 0&#xb0;.
