A head restraint includes a central part, a fastener for fastening the central part to a backrest of a vehicle seat, and at least one side wing. The side wing is mounted pivotably in relation to the central part between the neutral position and at least one comfort position, and is fixable at least in the comfort position. The fastener is designed to mount the central part pivotably relative to the backrest about a horizontal pivot axis. The central part is pivotable between a parking position and at least one supporting position and is fixable at least in the supporting position.

A retaining strut is coupled to the side wing at a living hinge disposed on a first end of the retaining strut. A headrest for a vehicle seat includes a padded part, carrying bars for securing the padded part to a backrest of the vehicle seat, and a mechanism for turning down the padded part about two swivel axes and from an in-use position into an out-of-use position. The mechanism comprises a cross member connecting the carrying bars to one another and forming the swivel axis of the padded part. Furthermore, the carrying bars and also the cross member run outside the padded part and the padded part is suspended on the cross member from the outside in a swiveling movable manner via the retaining strut and the double clip.

A vehicle seat is provided, particularly for a center seat in a row of seats. The seat includes a back part swivel connected to a seat part so that the back part and seat part swivel away from each other in a seating position and swivel toward one another in a first stowage position. The seat back may be altered in its longitudinal extent between the first stowage position and a second stowage position such that the seat back has a seat length and a shorter stowage length. The seat further includes a traveling mechanism which automatically moves the back part longitudinally from the seat length to the shorter stowage length when the back part is folded into the first stowage position.
