The disclosure relates to a method and a system for a wireless data communication between a sensor system and a receiver capable of receiving analyte values sensed by the sensor system in a continuous analyte monitoring. The method includes establishing an unconnected mode operation for the system. The receiver receives a first data package broadcasted by the sensor system that has first status data indicative of a device status and/or an analyte value status. The first status data is processed by a receiver controller. A connected mode operation is established for the system responsive to determining at least one of a critical device status and a critical analyte value status. The establishing includes establishing a communication channel between the sensor system and the receiver and receiving a second data package transmitted by the sensor system in the receiver, the second data package comprising one or more analyte values.

Method for a wireless data communication between a sensor system and a receiver, and a system for a wireless data communication

The disclosure refers to a method of operating a receiver for receiving analyte data from a biosensor monitoring an analyte by detecting analyte values, the method comprising: in a receiver (), receiving analyte values detected by a biosensor () monitoring an analyte in intervals of time for which a first interval time is applied; receiving a present analyte value in the receiver (); providing a rate of change for the analyte values; determining a future analyte value based on the present analyte value, the first interval time, and the rate of change; providing an analyte value range for the analyte values; setting a second interval time, the second interval time being shorter than the first interval time, if the future analyte value is outside the analyte value range, and longer than or equal to the first interval time, if the future analyte value is within the analyte value range; and in the receiver (), receiving one or more following analyte values in intervals of time for which the second interval time is applied. Method of operating a receiver for receiving analyte data, receiver and computer program product

Disclosed is a method for controlling user access to a medical system including a body-wearable medical device that can be, e.g., an insulin pump and/or a continuous glucose monitor. A remote controller is provided and has a user interface and can exchange data with the medical device. The remote controller is configured for entering, via the user interface, at least one command for execution by the medical device. The remote controller has a locked state in which entering medical device commands or other commands is disabled. In the locked state, the user is prompted to enter an identification code and the remote controller can be unlocked when the correct identification code is entered. In the unlocked state, entering of the medical device command is enabled. Alternatively, instead of entering a correct identification code, the remote controller can be switched to the unlocked state when a safety condition is met.

Controlling user access to a medical system

The invention provides for a medical system comprising a control unit and a medical appliance. The medical appliance comprises: a first processor and a monitoring system for measuring an analyte concentration subcutaneously. The control unit comprises a second processor and a second memory with a persistent partition and an application partition containing a medical application and application data comprising a medical data entry. The medical application backs up the application data as archived data in the persistent partition. The first processor is programmed to: record the analyte concentration, generate the medical data entry using the analyte concentration, and transfer the medical data entry to the control unit. The second memory further contains an operating system operable for de-installing the medical application without deleting the archived data.

The invention provides for method of operating a medical instrument () comprising a battery powered medical appliance () and a control unit (). Both have Bluetooth communication modules. The encrypted Bluetooth communication channel is the wireless communication channel encrypted using the Bluetooth encryption key.

The present invention relates to method for generating a monitoring signal by monitoring laboratory values of a patient using a medical app (). The medical app () is executed on a mobile device () of the patient, wherein the execution of the medical app () on the mobile device () of the patient is supervised by a supervising entity or safety module (), the supervising entity or safety module () comprising at least executable program instructions (). The medical app () comprises executable instructions for executing at least one sequence of processes for generating the monitoring signal. The processes comprise safety critical processes. The sequence of processes is triggered by the measurement of the blood glucose level of the patient. The method comprises executing a first process of the sequence of processes, wherein the execution results in the generation of an information, forwarding the information of the executed process to the supervising entity or safety module (), evaluating the received information by the supervising entity or safety module () and executing a second process of the sequence of processes depending on the result of the evaluation.
