A thermostatic valve for an internal combustion engine, including a housing with a plurality of coolant connections for connection to a coolant circuit of the internal combustion engine, a valve element which is mounted movably in the housing such that a movement of the valve element, at least two coolant connections of the housing are either connectable to one another or separable from one another, an expansion element which is arranged in order, during the operation of the internal combustion engine, to enter into thermal contact with coolant circulating in the coolant circuit, wherein, in the event of a heat-induced expansion, the expansion element moves the valve element in the housing in order to connect the at least two coolant connections, wherein a controllable heating device is provided such that the expansion element can be heated in order to move the valve element.

A thermostat valve for an internal combustion engine includes a housing with several cooling liquid connections and a drive which drives in rotation a hollow valve element mounted rotationally in the housing, by exerting a drive force, wherein the valve element has several openings delimited by its circumferential face which can be brought selectively in congruence with one or more of the cooling liquid connections of the housing by rotation of the valve element for the throughflow of cooling liquid.

A valve arrangement for a cooling system of a vehicle includes a housing having at least two cooling-liquid ports, and a valve element, which can be adjusted between an open position in which it opens up a connection between the cooling-liquid ports and a closed position in which it separates the connection between the cooling-liquid ports. The invention relates to a thermostat valve for an internal combustion engine, comprising a housing having a plurality of cooling fluid connections and comprising at least two hollow valve elements, which are arranged adjacent to one another and are mounted in the housing so as to be rotatable about a common rotational axis, wherein the valve elements each have at least one opening which is formed in the region of their shell surface, wherein the openings can be connected selectively to one or more, of the cooling fluid connections of the housing by rotating the valve elements, wherein drive means are provided with which a first of the at least two valve elements can be rotated between two end positions, wherein a second of the at least two valve elements can be coupled selectively to the first valve element and decoupled from the first valve element, wherein in the state in which it is coupled to the first valve element the second valve element is also driven in rotation by a rotation of the first valve element, and wherein coupling means are provided which are actuated by rotating the first valve element into the first end position, in such a way that the second valve element is coupled to the first valve element, and which are actuated by rotating the first valve element into the second end position in such a way that the second valve element is decoupled from the first valve element.

A valve operating device defined by the following features: a slider supported in axially displaceable manner in a housing and linked by an actuation segment to the valve, a first biasing spring configured in the housing and pre-stressing the slider against a first stop, an expansible element configured in the housing and being displaceably supported in approximately coaxial manner relative to the slider between a second and a third stop, a second biasing spring acting on the expansible element and pre-stressing the element against the second stop, the configuration allowing cooperation between the expansible element's drive pin and the slider, a heater associated to the expansible element, a heat dissipating element associated with the expansible element and cooling the expansible element when latter rests against the third stop, the force exerted by the first biasing spring being larger than that of the second biasing spring.

A thermostat valve arrangement for the cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine includes a main valve member movably mounted in a housing adapted to be pressed against a main valve seat by a spring. The valve arrangement further includes a bypass valve member cooperating with a bypass valve seat in the housing. An expansion element has a first section cooperating with an abutment fixed to the housing and a second section cooperating with the main valve member and the bypass valve member such that the main valve or bypass valve is selectively closed and/or opened, in order to produce the cooling circuit of the internal combustion engine by means of a radiator or a bypass.

A thermostat valve for a cooling system of a combustion engine, comprising a disc-shaped valve member, having a sealing portion and biased by a spring against an annular valve seat provided in a valve housing, a thermal extension element (DWE) within the valve housing which acts on the valve member opposite to the valve spring, characterized in that the valve member includes two separate parts, the first part being an annular member having an outer annular sealing portion and an inner annular sealing portion, the outer sealing portion cooperating with the valve seat and the second part being a plug-shaped member and extending through the annular member, the plug-shaped member having an outer annular sealing portion which in the closed position of the plug-shaped member cooperates with the inner sealing portion of the annular member, the plug-shaped member cooperating with the thermal extension element (DWE) and being structured such that upon an initial movement of the plug-shaped member by the thermal extension element a passage is formed between the inner sealing portion of the annular member and the outer sealing portion of the plug-shaped member and that upon further movement of the plug-shaped member the annular member is co-moved and lifted from the valve seat.

A device for measuring at least one of a level and a temperature of a liquid in a container includes a resistor arrangement adapted to be immersed in the liquid. An immersed length of the resistor arrangement in the liquid corresponds to the level of the liquid in the container. The resistor arrangement includes upper, middle and lower temperature-dependent elongated resistor elements connected in series or in parallel. Each resistor element has an uniform resistance per unit length along a length thereof. The upper and lower resistor elements are shorter than the middle resistor element. A power source is connectable to the resistor arrangement. Voltage drops across or currents flowing through the resistor elements are measured. A microprocessor is arranged to calculate the immersed length of the resistor arrangement or the temperature of the liquid from predetermined lengths of the resistor elements and from the measured voltages or currents.
