The invention describes a laser printing system () for illuminating an object () in a working plane (). The object () moves relative to a print head () of the laser printing system (). The print head () comprises a total number of laser modules (), each laser module () comprises at least one laser array () of lasers (). At least two of the laser modules () share an electrical power supply (). The laser printing system () further comprises a controller () being adapted such that at maximum processing speed of the print head () only a predefined number of laser modules () can be driven at nominal electrical power, wherein the predefined number of laser modules () is smaller than the total number of laser modules. The invention further relates to a corresponding method of laser printing. The laser printing system and the method allow designing the laser printing system for, for example, only 20% of the total power which would be required to drive all lasers at nominal electrical power while having only slightly reduced processing speed.

In various embodiments a device and method for providing power to an LED unit and modulating light emitted from the LED unit is disclosed. In one example, the device is configured to be connected between a driver and the LED unit. In this example, the device comprises a controllable resistor that receives from the driver a driver output voltage and to provides a load current to power the LED unit, a frequency filter for providing a substantially constant voltage to the LED unit, the frequency filter being connected to the controllable resistor to provide a substantially constant electrical power to the LED unit, and a modulator coupled in series to the LED unit for modulating the drive current and for modulating the emitted light output, wherein the substantially constant voltage applied to the LED unit is further applied to the modulator by means of the frequency filter.

Driver device and driving method for driving a load, in particular an LED unit

Converters () for supplying pulsed power to light sources () comprise switching parts () and controlling parts () for adapting switching parameters of the switching parts () for improving a performance. The switching part () may comprise first/second switches () that are in first/second modes during a first time interval of a cycle and vice versa during a second time intervals of a cycle. A group of cycles results in a pulse of the pulsed power. A switching parameter such as the first time interval of a first cycle may be shortened to reduce overshoot. A switching parameter such as the second time interval of the first cycle may be shortened or lengthened. A switching parameter such as the second time interval of a last cycle may be lengthened or shortened to reduce overshoot. A third switch () for switching the light source () is activated and de-activated delayedly to improve transient behavior.

Converter for supplying pulsed power to light source

A light source sequentially emits lights generated by at least three light emitting elements each emitting a different primary color to generate an image. Each light emitting element has a duty cycle in a lighting period, which may be an image frame period. A sequence scheme is provided for alternatingly driving different ones of the light emitting elements. The light emitting elements are driven in accordance with the sequence scheme at least two times in the lighting period, while maintaining the duty cycle for each light emitting element. In the sequence scheme, at least one light emitting element having the highest temperature sensitivity of all light emitting elements is driven more times than another one.

Method and apparatus for driving light emitting elements for projection of images

An average power consumption of receiving units () for controlling apparatuses () in response to operation control signals from transmitting units () may be reduced by introducing devices () for controlling the power consumption of the receiving units () in response to detections of states of the apparatuses (). The invention relates to a circuit arrangement () for controlling at least one load (D, D, D). In order to provide means for extracting an auxiliary power supply from a current source in order to control shunt switching, the inventive circuit arrangement () comprises an input terminal () for connection to a power supply (), an output terminal () for connection to at least one load element (), a control circuit (), comprising a control device (), which is adapted to control at least one load element (), and an energy storage device (C), which is adapted to supply power to the control device (). A controllable bypass switch (M) is further provided, wherein said bypass switch (M) and said control circuit () are connected in parallel and are connected between said input terminal () and said output terminal (). The circuit arrangement () is adapted to operate the bypass switch (M) to control the power provided to the control circuit.

Circuit arrangement for controlling at least one load

The present invention relates to a driver device () and a corresponding driving method for driving a load (), in particular an LED unit () including one or more LEDs, said driver device comprising a power input unit () for receiving an input voltage (V) from an external power supply () and for providing a rectified supply voltage (V), a controllable resistor () for providing a load current (I L) to power the load (), a frequency filter () connected to the power input unit () for providing a voltage (V) to the load (), wherein the frequency filter () is partially coupled in parallel to the load () and connected to the controllable resistor () to provide a substantially constant electrical power to the load ().

A good way to avoid extreme current levels when supplying large amounts of power is to increase the voltage. The easiest way to do this is connecting the radiation elements (e.g. laser diode pixels) in series (Lato La-n). In such a pixelated driver, the amount of components and complexity per pixel are reduced by connecting as many radiation elements as possible in series, supplying the string by one current controlled driver (Is), shortening pixels which should be in off state by a switch in parallel (-to-) to the radiation element, storing binary on/off information (-to-) for each pixel locally, creating a floating supply (-to-) for the switches, and managing information transfer to the floating storage and switches.

Separately controllable array of radiation elements

To improve energy efficiencies, supply circuits () for supplying switch circuits () have first supply modes for receiving first amounts of input power from sources () and providing first amounts of output power to output circuits () comprising control parts () of the switch circuits () and have second supply modes for receiving second amounts of input power and providing second amounts of output power. The first amounts of output power are larger than the second amounts of output power. The second amounts of input power are larger than zero and smaller than amounts of switch power necessary for operating the switch circuits (). The switch circuits () may comprise relays for switching loads (). The first amounts of input power may arrive via main contacts of the relays. Switches () may switch output signal levels. The relays may be bistable relays.

Supply circuit for supplying power to a switch circuit

The present invention relates to an LED lamp () adapted for operation with an alternating current. The LED retrofit lamp () comprises a LED unit ('&#x2033;) and a compensation circuit with a controllable switching device (&#x2032;), connected parallel to said LED unit (&#x2032;&#x2033;) to provide an alternate current path. A control unit (&#x2033;) is adapted to control said switching device (&#x2032;) in a compensation mode in which said switching device (&#x2032;) is set to the conducting state for the duration of a shunt period in each half cycle of the alternating current to allow adapting the power/current of the inventive LED lamp (), so that a versatile and optimized operation of the lamp () is possible.

The present invention relates to a bidirectional semiconductor switch (M, M) with extremely low control power consumption and a bootstrap circuit which allows reliable start of operation of the switch and the hosting device after unlimited duration of mains interruptions. Intelligent control options are provided by operating from a small energy storage and no extra means are required to recover from a depleted energy storage condition. The absence of audible noise and mechanical wear also enables more frequent recharging cycles and allows smaller and thus cheaper energy storage components.

The invention relates to solid state light source, a use of a driver circuit for driving a light emitting element () of a solid state light source, a method for driving a light emitting element () of a solid state light source and a corresponding computer program.
