A system includes a pressure regulator including a housing, an inlet for connection to a pressurized gas comprising oxygen, and at least one energy transfer element. The system further includes a respiration facepiece including at least one seal system to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user to encompass the nose and mouth of the user, thereby creating a volume of sealing engagement between the respiration facepiece and the user, an opening into the volume of sealing engagement of the respiration facepiece in communicative connection with an interface for removable attachment of the pressure regulator to the respiration facepiece, and an inspiration port in fluid connection with the interface and in fluid connection with the volume of sealing engagement. The pressure regulator interface includes at least one cooperating energy transfer element such that energy can be transferred between the at least one energy transfer element and the at least one cooperating energy transfer element to transfer at least one of data or power into the volume of sealing engagement.

Data communication and displays for breathing apparatus facepieces and pressure regulators

A pressure regulator assembly for an SCBA includes a valve assembly having a piston, a cylinder for receiving the piston, a sealing member for engagement by the piston, a conduit extending through the piston and facilitating fluid communication between an inlet chamber and a cavity of the cylinder, and a driving assembly for facilitating the engagement and disengagement of the piston responsive to a change of pressure in the outlet chamber. An indicator arrangement for a regulator removably connectable to a facemask in a breathing apparatus, the indicator arrangement including: at least one release button comprising a body operationally engaged with at least one component of the regulator and configured to be actuated by a user to detach the regulator from the facemask, wherein at least a portion of the body is configured to facilitate transmission of light from at least one light source; and wherein the light is visible on or through at least one external surface of the body of the at least one release button. A respiration system includes a pressure regulator including a housing, an inlet for connection to a pressurized gas comprising oxygen, and a first data communication system, and a respiration facepiece including an interface to which the pressure regulator is removably attachable, at least one seal system to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user to encompass the nose and mouth of a wearer; an inspiration port in fluid connection with the pressure regulator interface and in fluid connection with the interior of the facepiece and at least one display within a volume of sealing engagement with the face of the user that is within the field of view of the user. The pressure regulator interface includes a second data communication system to receive data from the first data communication system to control the at least one display. A sealing attachment may, for example, be formed between the pressure regulator and the interface of the facepiece.

A respiration system includes a regulator including an inlet for connection to a source of pressurized gas and an outlet for delivery of the gas to the user, and a respiration facepiece for use in connection with the regulator including an interface removably attachable to the regulator, at least one seal system adapted to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user, an inhalation port in fluid connection with the regulator interface and with the facepiece interior, an inhalation check valve in fluid connection between the inhalation port and the facepiece interior; an exhalation port in fluid connection with the facepiece; an exhalation check valve in fluid connection with the exhalation port; and an ambient port separate from the inhalation port and from the exhalation port, which is in fluid connection with the facepiece interior without an intervening check valve.

An apparatus for supporting a compressed-air bottle. The apparatus has a bottle support, a plurality of glide inserts projecting away from the bottle support and engageable with a compressed-air bottle supported on the apparatus, and a tightening strap for exerting a force on a compressed-air bottle supported by the apparatus. The tightening strap draws a compressed-air bottle against the glide inserts so that the glide inserts are repositioned relative to the bottle support.
