Energy consumption analytics of a cloud based service is provided. An application such as a power analytics application monitors power consumption data of a server of the cloud based service. The power consumption data of the server is captured in a data file, a data store, a temporary storage, etc. The power consumption data is analyzed to detect power consumption metrics for the server. The power consumption metrics are presented in a business intelligence data structure.

Providing energy consumption analytics of cloud based service

An application provides server performance decision support to end-users. The application monitors the transaction data of servers. The transaction data includes network communications as well as server specific information such as resource utilization. The application captures a sample of the transaction data. The captured sample can be random or predetermined. The sample is limited in length according to a preset time value. The application analyzes the sample to determine performance metrics for the server. The application presents the performance metrics within a business intelligence data structure to enable an end-user to data mine the performance metrics according to additional variables.

Providing server performance decision support

An application provides cloud computing master data management. The application determines a rank associated with received server information from a server. The source rank is adjusted according to evaluation of server information against naming convention standards. The source rank is used in determining a category matching the server information. An assigned category includes instructions to configure assets of a server. The application assembles configuration information from the assigned category and provides the configuration information to the server.

Master data management system for monitoring cloud computing

A metrics generation system provides IT and other computing system metrics from different data sources in a single display. Configuration files containing parameters and instructions are loaded by the system to access different data sources. The metrics generation system retrieves IT system health data, processes and aggregates metrics from the retrieved data and displays the metrics based on user defined parameters and instructions in the configuration files. The metrics generation system is flexible in that it can be changed to extract data from different IT data sources, calculate different metric information having a hierarchy of attribute types and values, and display a variety of metric data in different formats.

Framework for providing metrics from any datasource

Server outage data is automatically created and managed. Outage data is automatically retrieved from one or more servers at which an outage is detected by an agent installed on the server. The agent may search for outage event data and transmit the data to a monitoring application. The monitoring application receives the event data and creates an outage record from the data. Server contents, such as the number of users having account data on the server, can be determined either before or after the outage has occurred. Once the outage data and server contents are known, the cost and impact of the outage for each particular server can be determined. The cost of a server outage may be determined based on the outage record and the server data identifying resources of the server, such as user account data.

Defined rules that indicate how information technology services interrelate to other computing components in the information technology infrastructure are received. A specified level of detail is selected, from among one or more levels of detail in taxonomy for the information technology infrastructure, for presenting the service map of the information technology service. Ownership for components that are to be presented in the service map is associated with specified responsible entities. The service map is created with the specified level of detail. The service map can then be accessed and utilized to discretely apply a process theory to the information technology infrastructure.
