The described technology is generally directed towards latency diagnostics for multiparty systems, such as a system comprising a communication network, a content delivery network (CDN), and one or more internet service providers (ISPs). A latency analyzer component can process latency data in response to a latency diagnostic trigger, such as an alert from a video quality monitoring system. The latency analyzer can determine whether latency is attributable to the communication network. If not, the latency analyzer can determine whether the latency is attributable to the CDN. If the latency is not attributable to the communication network or the CDN, the latency analyzer can determine that the latency is attributable to the ISP, and the latency analyzer can identify the ISP and generate appropriate reports and notifications.

Latency diagnostics for multiparty systems

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a threshold value of a streaming-media key performance indicator (KPI) based on a predetermined target portion of end-user devices that provide an acceptable performance. Performance records are obtained for a content delivery network (CDN) adapted to cache and serve media content requested by the end-user devices. Predicted values of the streaming-media KPI are generated according to the performance records of the CDN and compared to the threshold value of the streaming-media KPI to obtain a comparison. An anomaly is detected according to the comparison, to indicate that a predetermined number of the predicted values of the streaming-media KPI fail to satisfy the threshold value. The disclosed technology, in one embodiment, involves a method that improves the execution speed of graph algorithms that are commonly used by network service providers for network analysis and/or design. The disclosed technology can be used to provide significant efficiency improvements when applied to networks that are separated into several isolated fragments ('fragmented networks') due to severe damage that may be caused by either natural disaster (such as hurricanes or earthquakes), or planned adversary attacks. In one embodiment of the disclosed technology, a graph algorithm, that is used to determine a characteristic of the network, is not applied directly to the whole network/graph. Instead, the graph algorithm is applied to isolated network/graph fragments that are identified, for example, by using a fragment discovery algorithm. The graph algorithm is then applied to one or more relevant fragments. The results may be combined to obtain a network wide result.
