A combustor cap assembly includes an impingement plate coupled to an annular shroud and a cap plate which is coupled to the impingement plate to form an impingement air plenum therebetween. The combustor cap assembly further includes a flow conditioning plate coupled to a forward end portion of the shroud. The flow conditioning plate includes an inner band portion, an outer band portion and an annular portion. The annular portion defines a plurality of flow conditioning passages. The inner band portion at least partially defines a cooling air plenum within the combustor cap assembly. The inner band portion defines an exhaust channel which is in fluid communication with the impingement air plenum and an exhaust outlet. The flow conditioning plate further defines a cooling air passage which provides for cooling air flow into the cooling air plenum.

Combustor cap assembly

A combustor cap assembly includes an impingement plate coupled to an annular shroud and a cap plate which is coupled to the impingement plate and forms an impingement air plenum therebetween. The cap assembly further includes a flow conditioning plate which is coupled to a forward end portion of the shroud. The flow conditioning plate includes an inner band portion, an outer band portion and an annular portion which extends radially therebetween. The annular portion includes upstream side, a downstream side and a plurality of flow conditioning passages which provide for fluid communication through the upstream and downstream sides. The inner band portion of the flow conditioning plate at least partially defines an exhaust channel. The exhaust channel is in fluid communication with the impingement air plenum and an exhaust outlet. The exhaust outlet is positioned to route cooling air from the impingement air plenum into an annular flow passage defined within a combustor.

A system for utilizing cooling air within a combustor includes a fuel nozzle having an axially extending center body, a burner tube that circumferentially surrounds at least a portion of the center body and a premix passage defined between the center body and the burner tube. The system further includes a combustor cap assembly having a first cooling air plenum defined between a cap plate and a first partitioning plate, a second cooling air plenum defined upstream from the first cooling air plenum between a second partitioning plate and the first partitioning plate, and a tube that provides for fluid communication from the first cooling air plenum, through the second cooling air plenum and through the second partitioning plate. The system provides a method for utilizing the cooling air within the combustor.

System and method for utilizing cooling air within a combustor

A system includes a turbine combustor that includes a head end portion having a head end chamber, a combustion portion having a combustion chamber disposed downstream from the head end chamber, a cap disposed between the head end chamber and the combustion chamber, and a flow distributor configured to distribute an exhaust flow circumferentially around the head end chamber. The flow distributor includes at least one exhaust gas flow path.

System and method for a turbine combustor

A system includes a turbine combustor that includes a head end portion having a head end chamber, a combustion portion having a combustion chamber disposed downstream from the head end chamber, a cap disposed between the head end chamber and the combustion chamber, and a flow distributor configured to distribute at least one of an exhaust flow, an oxidant flow, an oxidant-exhaust mixture, or any combination thereof circumferentially around the head end chamber.

A system includes a turbine combustor that includes a head end portion having a head end chamber, a combustion portion having a combustion chamber disposed downstream from the head end chamber, a cap disposed between the head end chamber and the combustion chamber, and a flow separator configured to separate a first exhaust flow from an oxidant flow. The flow separator is configured to direct the first exhaust flow into the head end chamber. The turbine combustor also includes a mixing region configured to mix the first exhaust flow with the oxidant flow to provide an oxidant-exhaust mixture.

A combustor cap assembly includes an annular shroud and an impingement plate coupled to the shroud. The impingement plate at least partially defines a plurality of impingement cooling holes and a cooling flow return passage. A cap plate is coupled to the impingement plate. The cap plate includes an impingement side which faces a second side portion of the impingement plate where the impingement side is axially spaced from the second side portion to define an impingement air plenum therebetween. The cooling flow return passage is in fluid communication with the impingement air plenum. A fluid conduit extends from a first side portion of the impingement plate towards a first end portion of the shroud. The fluid conduit is in fluid communication with the cooling flow return passage and provides for fluid communication out of the impingement air plenum.

Certain embodiments of the present disclosure include a combustor resonator having a non-uniform annulus between a combustor assembly and a resonator shell. The combustor resonator may further include resonator necks or passages having non-uniform lengths and geometries.

A system includes a gas turbine combustor, which includes a combustion liner disposed about a combustion region, a flow sleeve disposed about the combustion liner, an air passage between the combustion liner and the flow sleeve, and a structure between the combustion liner and the flow sleeve. The structure obstructs an airflow through the air passage. The gas turbine combustor also includes a wake reducer disposed adjacent the structure. The wake reducer directs a flow into a wake region downstream of the structure.

System and method for flow control in gas turbine engine

The present application and the resultant patent provide a combustor for mixing a flow of air and a flow of fuel. The combustor may include an air path for the flow of air, a number of fuel injectors positioned in the air path for the flow of fuel, and a crossfire tube positioned within the air path upstream of the fuel injectors. The crossfire tube may include a number of purge holes positioned on a downstream side thereof to reduce a wake in the flow of air caused by the crossfire tube in the air path.
