Device for determining spatially dependent x-ray flux degradation and photon spectral change

The present invention relates to a device () and a method () for determining a status of an X-ray tube () of an X-ray system (). Due to ageing and/or wear of the X-ray tube, the spectrum of the X-ray radiation () provided by the X-ray tube may change over the operation time of the X-ray tube. The present invention therefore suggests evaluating spectrally different values detected with an X-ray detector arrangement () of the X-ray system. A reference data set representing a reference condition of the X-ray tube by a plurality of spectrally different reference-values () and a working data set representing an aged condition of the X-ray tube by a plurality of spectrally different working-values () of detected X-ray radiation are used to determine an equivalent filtration function for an filtration material influencing a source X-ray radiation () emitted by an anode () of the X-ray tube. Accordingly, the filtration function provides the information about the material being used for the filtration and/or its length, which may provide the basis to determine the condition and thus the status of the X-ray tube.

Determining a status of an X-ray tube of an X-ray system

A system for interventional brachytherapy for generating data to be used directly for therapy and/or for therapy planning includes a radiation source which irradiates tissue of a patient and one or more radiation detectors which detect radiation delivered to the patient and generate radiation dosage data indicative thereof. One or more position sensors determine the position of the radiation source and a localization unit, in communication with the one or more position sensors, generates position data indicative of the position of the radiation source. An image database stores one or more anatomical images of the patient. A dose calculation unit which co-registers the one or more anatomical images with the positional and radiation dosage data and generates dose monitoring data based on the co-registration.

System for generating spectral computed tomography projection data

An energy application apparatus applies energy to an object. The object (), such as a tumor which has absorbed a radioisotope tracer, defines a location () of radioactive material. A location detection unit detects the location with the radioactive material. An x-ray unit applies x-rays to the detected location of the object. Since the location, to which energy should be applied, includes radioactive material, this location can be accurately detected by using the location detection unit. Moreover, since the application of the x-rays can be well controlled by controlling, for example, the intensity and the energy spectrum of the x-rays, energy can be accurately applied to the accurately detected location. The overall process of applying energy to the object can therefore be performed with increased accuracy.

Energy application apparatus

A therapy system includes a diagnostic image scanner () that acquires a diagnostic image of a target region to be treated. A planning processor () is configured to generate a patient specific adaptive radiation therapy plan based on patient specific biomarkers before and during therapy. A first set of patient specific biomarkers is determined then used for the determination of a first normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) model and a first tumor control probability (TCP) model. A radiation therapy device () administers a first dose of radiation to the target region with a protocol based on the first NTCP model and the first TCP model. A method for radiotherapy monitoring is provided. The method comprises calculation of treatment-guiding indices of side-effects based on processing image derived descriptors and measurement values of selected disease specific biomarkers and optionally questionnaire data. A computer program product is also provided.

Method and device for side-effect prognosis and monitoring

A method includes obtaining an image of a region of interest of a subject, wherein the image is generated with image data produced by an imaging system used to scan the subject, obtaining a signal indicative of a physiological state of the subject before the scan, and displaying both the image and data indicative of the physiological state. Oncology therapies employing radioactive seeds

A tomographic apparatus () includes at least two x-ray sources () that are concurrently driven with different switching patterns to generate uniquely encoded radiation. The tomographic apparatus () further includes at least two detectors () that each detect primary radiation emitted by its corresponding one of the at least two x-ray sources () and cross scatter radiation from at least one of the other at least two x-ray sources (). Each of the at least two detectors () produces an aggregate signal representative of the detected primary and cross scatter radiation. Multi-source encoded x-ray imaging

An improved radiation therapy planning procedure is suggested. The procedure comprises the steps of specifying and determining the absolute grade of cell degeneracy by in-vitro tests, whereby marker(s) indicative for specific cell degeneracy are detected and quantified, establishing a biology-based segmentation of areas with similar grade of relative cell degeneracy and applying the absolute grade of cell degeneracy to the biology-based segmentation data, thereby establishing an improved radiation therapy planning procedure. Moreover, the present invention suggests a system for an improved radiation therapy planning procedure and its use in procedures of diagnosis and/or therapy management of cancer.

Radiation therapy flanning procedure

An imaging apparatus includes a multi-dimensional assembly supporting a plurality of x-ray sources that are individually addressable. The plurality of x-ray sources is further configurable to simultaneously emit x-ray spectra at different mean energies. Furthermore, the multi-dimensional assembly includes a plurality of x-ray detectors that are arranged to detect at least a part of the x-rays that are emitted from at least one of the x-ray sources.
