Methods for communicating state, intent, and context of an autonomous vehicle

A method comprises identifying a target location within a patient anatomy, receiving a position for a tip portion of an interventional instrument at a first location within the patient anatomy, and determining a three-dimensional distance between the first location and the target location. The method further comprises displaying on a display system an image that includes a symbol representing the target location and a symbol representing the tip portion of the instrument and displaying on the display system a rotational assist symbol indicating a rotational orientation of the tip portion. As the tip portion is actuated, the image is displayed so that the symbol representing the tip portion is a frame of reference for the image and the symbol representing the target location moves with respect to the symbol representing the tip portion to represent a new location of the tip portion relative to the target location.

The instrument includes a catheter and an interventional tool extendable from the catheter. The control system includes a processor and a memory comprising machine-readable instructions that cause the control system to: receive a model of an anatomic structure, the anatomic structure including a plurality of passageways; identify a target structure in the model; receive information about a maximum extension length the interventional tool can be extended relative to a distal tip of the catheter; based upon the received information about the maximum extension length, identify a planned deployment location for positioning the distal tip of the catheter to perform the interventional procedure on the target structure; determine a navigational path for the catheter to the target structure; and navigate the catheter to the identified planned deployment location via computer control or based on user input.

A method of guiding an interventional instrument within a patient anatomy comprises processing a target location within the patient anatomy and receiving a position for a tip portion of an interventional instrument at a first location within the patient anatomy. The method also comprises determining a three-dimensional distance between the first location and the target location and displaying a symbol representing the target location and a symbol representing the tip portion of the interventional instrument.

One variation of a method for executing autonomous rideshare requests includes: following arrival of an autonomous vehicle proximal a pickup location specified in a rideshare request submitted by a user, setting a user arrival timer for a first duration and a depart timer for a second duration exceeding the first duration; serving a state of the user arrival timer to a mobile computing device affiliated with the user; rendering a state of the depart timer on an external display arranged on the autonomous vehicle; in response to failure of the user to arrive at the autonomous vehicle prior to expiration of the user arrival timer, departing from the pickup location without the user; and, in response to the user arriving at the autonomous vehicle prior to expiration of the user arrival timer, departing from the pickup location with the user prior to expiration of the delay timer.

A system for performing an interventional procedure comprises an interventional instrument and a control system. The control system comprises a processor and a memory comprising machine-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the control system to receive a model of an anatomic structure, record a target location for a target structure identified in the model, determine a planned deployment location for the interventional instrument to perform the interventional procedure on the target structure, receive sensor data including an intraoperative image of the target structure from a sensor system disposed at least partially within the anatomic structure, and identify, based on the intraoperative image of the target structure from the sensor system disposed at least partially within the anatomic structure indicating a different target location than the recorded target location, a revised deployment location for the interventional instrument to perform the interventional procedure on the target structure.

An anatomical probe system comprises an elongated flexible body and an elongated probe extending within the flexible body. The probe has a distal opening at a distal face of a distal end and includes an outer wall defining a channel, an access port in the outer wall in communication with the channel, a one-way flow controller, and an image capture instrument secured to the outer wall at a location proximal of the distal opening. The access port is spaced proximally of the distal face of the distal end. The one-way flow controller includes a cover configured to move between an open position where the access port is uncovered and the channel is in fluid communication with an area adjacent to the elongated probe via the access port, and a closed position where the access port is covered and a migration of fluids through the distal opening is permitted.

A pre-ride image of an interior is recorded prior to initiating a ride A post-ride image of the interior is recorded following completion of the ride. A region of the post-ride image differing from the pre-ride image is detected, with the region of the post-ride image representing a change in the interior. A type of an object depicted in the region of the post-ride image is classified based on features extracted from the region of the post-ride image. In response to classifying the object depicted in the region of the post-ride image as a personal item, a prompt is served to the user to retrieve the object.
