Provided are novel crosslinkers and curable compositions including such crosslinkers. Bonded constructions including the disclosed curable compositions display high adhesion, elongation, and impact resistance even if the bonded substrate receives no surface treatment prior to bonding. Provided are elastomeric products including the curable compositions, methods of making the same, and uses thereof.

Crosslinkers and curable compositions including the same

The composition includes an acrylic monomer having a carboxylic acid group, an acrylic monomer having a hydroxyl group, and a compound composed of divalent segments L and at least two X groups. The divalent segments L are represented by the formula Each divalent segment L is respectively directly bonded to two secondary N atoms, two tertiary N atoms, or a secondary and a tertiary N atom. Each Rrepresents an alkylene group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and at least some of the Rgroups are &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;. Each X group is independently represented by the formula CH&#x2550;C(R)&#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;V-W&#x2014;C(O)&#x2014;. The acrylic monomer having a carboxylic acid group is present in an amount of at least 20 percent by weight, based on the total weight of acrylic-functional compounds. Articles and a method of using the composition are also described.

The present invention relates to stable colloidal dispersions of sulfonated polyurethane ureas and self-supporting films formed from these dispersions. After formation of the sulfonated polyurethane urea, alcohols can be added to the aqueous dispersion to provide a water-alcohol system. The films of the present invention are minimally tacky and self-adhesive.

The present invention provides a retroreflective sheeting including: optical elements arranged in substantially a monolayer; a spacing layer in which the optical elements are at least partially embedded; a specularly reflecting layer underlying the spacing layer; and a bead bond layer in which the optical elements are at least partially embedded. The bead bond layer includes an aminoplast-crosslinked polymer comprising urethane groups, wherein prior to crosslinking the polymer has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of less than about 0.degree. C.

The invention provides novel macromonomer and carboxyl functional polyurethanes having a high carboxyl content. The invention further provides dispersions, coatings and magnetic recording media comprising these polyurethanes, or blends or copolymers of these polyurethanes with quaternary ammonium compounds. The invention further provides novel dispersions, coatings and magnetic recording media comprising combinations of carboxyl functional polyurethanes having a high carboxyl content with quaternary ammonium polymers.
