An absorbent article that has a reduced tendency to shift when worn. The absorbent article includes a chassis with a front waist portion, a crotch portion, and a back waist portion. Side panels or ears are attached to the front and back waist portions of the chassis, and fastening components are attached to the back ears. Anti-skid elements are added to the outside surface and/or inside surface of the front side panels or ears and/or to the inside surface of the fastening tabs, such as by applying an elastomeric strip in a substantially vertical direction. When the absorbent article is fastened to the wearer attaching the fastening components on the back ears to the front waist portion of the absorbent article, the anti-skid elements interface with the front waist portion, the front ears, and/or the wearer to exert friction and thereby reduce shifting of the fastened absorbent article.

A closure tab is provided and includes a first substrate. A second substrate is adhesively attached to the first substrate. The second substrate has mechanical closure material formed thereon. A compression bond pattern is applied to the first substrate and the second substrate. The compression bond pattern includes at least one outwardly extending protrusion. The compression bond pattern may include, for example, circular bond points, stripes, or a decorative element. A method is also provided wherein the second substrate is compressed onto the first substrate by a patterned roller. The second substrate may be compressed onto the first substrate by a plurality of pins spaced in alternating offset rows.

Method of manufacturing closure tabs for absorbent articles

Absorbent articles suitable for use as diapers or other hygiene products are provided. The absorbent articles have one or more closure system features including dual elasticity, rear closure, and the use of co-adhesives for the fasteners. Products according to the invention may provide any of several benefits, including a high level of comfort in use, resistance to tampering by the wearer, and relatively quiet attachment and detachment of the closures.

Absorbent article having re-fastenable closures

An absorbent article is provided including a backsheet, a topsheet and an absorbent core disposed therebetween. The diaper includes large rectangular fasteners that stretch in only one direction. At least one longitudinally extending, elasticized inner leg gather is disposed with the topsheet. The inner leg gather includes at least one elastic member for distributing elastic contractile forces. The inner leg gather is joined to the topsheet along a front tackdown zone and a back tackdown zone. The elastic members and tackdown zones extend in a manner sufficient to provide enhanced fit, functionality and waste containment. The unidirectional stretch fasteners and leg gathers are sized in relationship to each other to enable a complete encircling of each leg to form a better leg gasket for waste containment and fit.

Absorbent article

The present invention provides an absorbent garment subassembly for attaching to an absorbent garment, the absorbent garment having a front portion, a back portion and two side portions. The subassembly has a first carrier layer and an elastic member operatively associated with the first carrier layer. The elastic member has a center portion and two end portions. The center portion has a greater area than either of the end portions.

Disposable article with centrally located zones of elasticity

An absorbent article that provides leakage protection and/or skin protection, as well as methods for using and preparing the absorbent article and novel compositions and composites for use in the absorbent article, is disclosed. The absorbent article comprises a permeable topsheet; a substantially impermeable backsheet; an absorbent core positioned between said permeable topsheet and said substantially impermeable backsheet; and a hydrophobic composition selectively disposed on the absorbent article to contain leakage. The hydrophobic composition is disposed at one or more leak protection zones.

An absorbent article is provided which includes a pH control agent in an amount sufficient to maintain prolonged natural skin pH. The pH control agent can be applied in conjunction with a surfactant. Generally, the pH control agent and optional surfactant can be added to the topsheet, absorbent core, and/or any tissue layer included in the absorbent article. Particularly preferred pH control agents include citric acid and sodium citrate.
