Receivers, controller units for receivers and related methods are provided. One receiver includes an adjustable sample provider providing samples of an input signal using an adjustable sample timing and a feedback path providing a feedback signal to the adjustable sample provider based on a timing error. The feedback path includes a loop filter providing sample timing information to the adjustable sample provider and a replacement value provider providing a replacement sample timing information replacing the sample timing information when an input signal does not fulfil a predetermined requirement for a feedback-based sample timing adaptation. The replacement value provider provides the replacement sample timing information considering a timing error information over a longer time period when compared to a time period considered by the loop filter for a provision of the sample timing information.

Adaptive timing synchronization for reception for bursty and continuous signals

There are provided examples of receivers, controller units and related methods, wherein one receiver includes: an adjustable sample provider configured to provide samples of an input signal using an adjustable sample timing; a feedback path configured to provide a feedback signal to the adjustable sample provider on the basis of a timing error, wherein the feedback path includes a loop filter configured to provide sample timing information to the adjustable sample provider; and a replacement value provider configured to provide a replacement sample timing information replacing the sample timing information provided by the feedback path when an input signal does not fulfil a predetermined requirement for a feedback-based sample timing adaptation, wherein the replacement value provider is configured to provide the replacement sample timing information considering a timing error information, or a quantity derived from the timing error information, over a longer time period when compared to a time period considered by the loop filter for a provision of the sample timing information.

A synchronization device for determining a position of a synchronization signal in a receive signal, the synchronization signal being based on a coarse synchronization signal and a fine synchronization signal, includes a signal processing means configured to determine, based on the coarse synchronization signal, a section of the receive signal in which is located the fine synchronization signal, and to determine in the section of the receive signal, based on the fine synchronization signal, the position of the synchronization signal in the receive signal for a synchronization.

A device for detecting a correlation maximum value from a sequence of correlation magnitude values includes a means for determining a reference value from correlation magnitude values within an interval of the sequence of correlation magnitude values, the correlation magnitude value to be assessed lying external to interval. A means for determining a threshold value provides the threshold value in dependence on the reference value. A means for comparing the correlation magnitude value to be assessed with the threshold value ascertained for the correlation magnitude value to be assessed is configured to provide, depending on the comparison result, a trigger signal which indicates whether a correlation magnitude value to be assessed is a correlation maximum value.

A device for determining a correlation value from a correlation between a first sequence of values with complex values and a second sequence of values with complex values has a correlation means for determining a first partial correlation value from a correlation between a first subset of the first sequence of values and a first subset of the second sequence of values, and for determining a second partial correlation value from a correlation between a second subset of the first sequence of values and a second subset of the second sequence of values. The device further has a processing means for determining a processed partial correlation value with an adjusted phase term from the first partial correlation value or the second partial correlation value, and a calculating means for determining the correlation value using the processed partial correlation value.

Device and method for determining a correlation value

A mixer for mixing a signal, present as a sequence of time-discrete values with a time interval between two time-discrete values defining a first sampling frequency from a current frequency to a target frequency, includes a first mixer implemented to convert the signal from the current frequency to an intermediate frequency to obtain an intermediate frequency signal based on the first sampling frequency, wherein a spectral interval between the intermediate frequency and the current frequency depends on the first sampling frequency. Further, the mixer includes means for converting the intermediate frequency signal into a converted intermediate frequency signal which is based on a second sampling frequency. Additionally, the mixer includes a second mixer which is implemented to convert the converted intermediate frequency signal from the intermediate frequency to the target frequency to obtain a target frequency signal which is based on the sampling frequency.
