A method for coupling a thermal plate () and a housing () is disclosed. The method includes the steps of inserting the thermal plate () having a main area () and one or more folded panels () configured at an angle () from the main area () to allow the thermal plate () to be inserted within the housing () and stopping the thermal plate () within the housing () at a predetermined location using a stop support (). The one or more folded panels () are flattened using a pressing element () so that the angle from the main area () is substantially zero degrees so that the thermal plate () is physically and thermally coupled to an inside wall of the housing (). The thermal plate () within the housing () may be aligned using one or more groves () and grove guides (). The coupled thermal plate () and the housing may form part of a luminaire ().

A luminaire includes a body, with first and second surfaces that define an elongate interior cavity between the first and second surfaces, the elongate interior cavity being sized to receive one or more elongate light sources; an elongate lens that is removably securable to the body to at least partially cover the elongate interior cavity; and at least one lens retainer disposed at a first end of the elongate interior cavity, where the lens retainer includes a frame including a first frame end and a second frame end, at least a first spring lever disposed between the first and second frame ends, where the at least first spring lever is biased towards a second end of the elongate interior cavity that is opposite the first end of the elongate interior cavity; where the elongate lens is snugly retainable on the body using the bias provided by the spring lever.

A vandal resistant lighting fixture including a base with a first side wall and a flange extending from the first side wall; a cover having a second side wall having interior and exterior peripheries and a cap extending from the second side wall, the cap having an opening through which light from an illumination source may pass; a securing mechanism rotatably securing the cover to the base when the cover is rotated in a first direction relative to the base to a secured position; and/or a magnetically operable latching mechanism having latched and unlatched positions. With the cover in the secured position, the latching mechanism prevents rotation of the cover in a second direction opposite the first direction when the latching mechanism is in the latched position. A corresponding magnetic key may be configured to provide a magnetic force to toggle the latching mechanism between the latched and unlatched settings.

A door frame mounted reflector system for a fluorescent troffer is depicted. The fluorescent troffer incorporates the utilization of a troffer housing and hingedly affixed to the troffer housing is a door frame which has attached thereto optical reflectors, the optical reflectors including optionally first and second lenses on either side of the centrally aligned basket and first and second upwardly extending downlight reflectors which extend upward from the longitudinal edge of the door frame towards the top wall of the troffer housing but which are not affixed to the top wall of the troffer housing. These downlight reflectors cover irregularities on the interior top wall of the troffer housing while providing smooth illumination characteristics to the lenses and basket.

A direct and indirect suspended component light fixture is described herein. The light engine of the fixture is recessed within a ceiling and contains a plurality of linear fluorescent lamps substantially surrounded by an ellipsoidal reflector. The ellipsoidal reflector reflect light downward through a light output region to a suspended diffuser, the suspended diffuser acting as both a provider of direct and indirect light to generate smooth and even illumination both in the indirect and direct light components.
