A locking and disconnect system for use with an ultraviolet lighting system used in a waste management system. The system includes a light coupled to a housing having a cam receiving portion. The system further includes a cell for housing the light. The cell includes a cam locking mechanism engageable with the cam receiving portion of the housing.

Disconnect and locking system and method of disassembly and reassembly

An effluent treatment control system comprising a sensor that determines when a primary ultraviolet lamp disposed in a first flow path of an effluent fails. The system also includes a controller that, upon receiving a signal from the sensor, automatically turns on a backup ultraviolet lamp disposed in a second flow path of the effluent.

A septic tank having internal supports. The internal supports may be lateral or vertical supports integrally molded to the septic tank. The internal supports provide structural support for the septic tank under various loading conditions. The supports will thus substantially prevent cracking of the septic tank, as well as deformation of the septic tank, manhole and other components thereof. A mold for manufacturing the septic tank is also provided.

With proper handling, Gallium-Indium-Tin eutectics are suitable for use as a substitute for mercury in switch applications. The eutectics should be acid washed to prevent oxidation of the metal components of the eutectic while in the switch housing and, further, the switch housing should be filled with an inert gas. Preventing oxidation ensures long term performance of the switch. In addition, provisions need to be made to prevent wetting of the switch housing by the eutectic. Experiments have shown that acid washing of metallic switch housings prior to adding the Gallium-Indium-Tin eutectic reduces or eliminates wetting by the eutectic. In addition, experiments have shown that coating the walls of the switch housing with a fluoropolymer coating prevents wetting by the eutectic.

Alloy substitute for mercury in switch applications

A septic tank is constructed from top and bottom shells. The top and bottom shells are nestable within like top and bottom shells in order to allow greater numbers of septic tanks to be shipped one a cargo truck or railroad car. In a preferred embodiment, both the top and bottom shells have peripheral flanges that interlock together. The septic tank is assembled at its sight of intended use by placing the top and bottom shells together, inserting a gasket material between the interlocking peripheral flanges, and affixing a plurality of clips over the interlocking peripheral flanges to hold the top and bottom shells together. Preferably, the peripheral flanges serve the function of an integral antifloatation collar for the septic tank. The antifloatation collar increases the cross sectional area of the septic tank over which soil is applied, and allow the tank to be firmly held in the ground without the use of an anchor or ground screw.
