A method of operating a delivery apparatus and a delivery apparatus are disclosed for the continuous delivery of a liquid. The method and the apparatus are suitable in particular for use in a water injection system for injecting water into a main flow of a gas turbine. The delivery apparatus includes a plurality of delivery devices connected parallel to one another. In a first method step, the delivery devices of the delivery apparatus are assigned to at least two delivery device groups. The delivery device groups with the respectively assigned delivery devices are then switched to the active state from the rest mode in a rolling manner in time segments in order to deliver the liquid mass flow. In each case at least one delivery device is therefore operated in the rest mode in a rolling sequence per time segment.

Method and apparatus for delivering a liquid

A system for the atomization of liquid is arranged on the intake duct of a gas turbo set. This atomization system comprises a number of nozzle tubes with atomizer nozzles, switching valves for selective action upon the nozzle tubes by liquid and a pump for conveying the liquid to be atomized. According to the invention, the pump is connected to a variable-speed drive. The switching valves are preferably designed as proportional valves. In a corresponding regulating circuit, this makes it possible to limit pressure gradients in the atomization system and consequently to avoid hammers.

A power plant comprises an air-breathing combustion engine having an air inlet and an inflow duct arranged upstream of the air inlet, as well as an atomization device arranged in the inflow duct. In a method for operating this power plant, a liquid is injected into the inflow duct in the atomization device. During the injection, at least the temperature of the atomization liquid which is to be injected upstream of the atomization device or the temperature in the inflow duct downstream of the atomization device is measured. One of these measured temperatures is used as control variable for control of the temperature of the atomization liquid.

When operating an air-breathing engine, a liquid is injected in atomized form into an air intake duct of the engine. A measurement apparatus for determining the injected drop size or the drop concentration is arranged in or on the intake duct downstream of the location of the injection. These measured values are input into a control system, which controls suitable parameters of the injection apparatus in such a manner that the determined variables are controlled to desired values or into desired value ranges.

A method for operating a gas turbine installation () includes sucking in a gaseous medium () by the compressor () and compressed in the compressor space, a liquid medium () being injected into the gaseous medium (), so that a two-phase flow comprising a gaseous phase and a liquid phase is formed at least in a subregion of the compressor (). The gaseous medium () is then burnt with fuel () in a combustion chamber () to form hot gases (), and the hot gases () are expanded in a turbine (), the hot components of the gas turbine installation () being cooled by cooling air () of a cooling air system. A measurement is carried out to determine whether a liquid phase is present in a region of the compressor () and/or of the cooling air system.

In a method of operating a compressor, a gaseous medium is compressed in a first compressor stage. The partially compressed medium is sent from the first compressor stage into an intermediate cooler where it is cooled before being directed into the second compressor stage where it is compressed further. A liquid medium is sprayed into the gaseous medium in the intermediate cooler so that a two-phase mixture with a liquid phase and a gaseous phase is formed in the intermediate cooler. The liquid phase is separated again before adding it to the second compressor stage.
