A method for tag-based search includes capturing an image, extracting a tag from the image, identifying a location associated with the captured image, and querying stored content for information that matches the location and the tag. Local storage is checked for the information first, and remote storage may be checked subsequently. Any located information may be used to augment the image. Information located in the remote storage may be saved in the local storage until it reaches a certain age, until it fails to be accessed for a threshold period of time, or until the location moves outside a threshold radius associated with a location of the information located in the remote storage.

Context-aware tagging for augmented reality environments

A system for providing permissioned images in media transactions is described. The system processes images in an image set for a media transaction to identify the image owner and other persons depicted in the image and determines use permissions for the images. Various images in the image set are processed to remove or anonymize various persons in order to meet use conditions. The processed images are compiled and provided to an entity requesting the image set.

Media transactions consent management

A method, computer system, and a computer program product for dynamic role assignment is provided. The present invention may include identifying a crisis event based on data collected by one or more internet-connected sensors. The present invention may then include selecting an incident plan based on the identified crisis event. The present invention may then include communicating an incident role to a registered device of a crowd member.

Dynamic assignment of tasks to internet connected devices

Material waste screening is provided. A sensor obtains data related to an object. A processor classifies the object based on the data to identify a recycle category for the object, open a recycle bin for the identified recycle category, instruct the operator to deposit the object in the opened recycle bin, determine a level of compliance of the object, and create at least one new instruction to increase the level of compliance.

Techniques for data evaluation and optimized resource allocation are provided. Usage data is received collected from at least one sensor in a physical location, where the usage data indicates consumption of an item. The usage data is aggregated within a predefined cluster, where the predefined cluster corresponds to a geographic area. Future consumption of the item is predicted based at least in part on evaluating the usage data using one or more cognitive models. A recommended reconfiguration of one or more aspects of production for the item is generated, based on the predicted future consumption.

Cognitive evaluation of sensor environments and resource allocation

A method for calculating sales trend of a product at a store shelf based on crowdsourcing, includes receiving, by a retail store server, availability data of a product measured on a shelf in the retail store from a portable device, where the availability data is in the form of a picture acquired of the product on the shelf, identifying products on the shelf using tags attached to the shelves, calculating sales velocity and sales trends of the product from the identified products, and transmitting the sales velocity and sales trend of the product to one or more third parties' systems in a supply chain of said retail store. Products and their locations on retail store shelves have been cataloged in a product database.

Mobile device based inventory management and sales trends analysis in a retail environment

Data associated with a region, acquired by a robot may be passed to a previously trained classifier. The classifier outputs a classification label L, and a confidence score C. Responsive to determining that the confidence score C is below a threshold T, the acquired data can be added to a training data set associated with the classifier, and the classifier retrained using the training data set which include at least information from the acquired data. Responsive to determining that the confidence score C is below the threshold T, at least one candidate region having characteristic similarity to the region can be identified. Responsive to determining that the confidence score C is not below the threshold T, at least one candidate region having a different characteristic from the region can be identified. The robot may be caused to acquire data associated with the candidate region.

Online utility-driven spatially-referenced data collector for classification

A method and system of mitigating bias in a decision-making system are provided. A presence of bias is identified in one or more machine learning models. For each of the machine learning models, a presence of bias in an output of the model is determined. One or more options to mitigate a system bias during a processing stage, based on the identified presence of bias for each of the one or more models, are determined. One or more options to mitigate the system bias during a post-processing stage, based on the identified presence of bias in each output of the models, are determined. A combination of options is provided, including (i) a processing option for the processing stage, and (ii) a post-processing option for the post-processing stage, wherein the combination of options accommodates a threshold bias limit to the system bias and a total bias mitigation cost threshold.

Audit machine learning models against bias

Content of the material the user is consuming is identified. Physiological pattern generated by the user while consuming the content is captured via at a sensor device. Responsive to detecting that the physiological pattern represents an outlier, a term in the content is determined for which additional information is to be provided. The term may be determined from the content based on user knowledge, frequency of the term appearing in previous content consumed by the user and popularity of the term. A search query is executed with the determined term. Result of the search query may be filtered based on the user's knowledge. The filtered result and at least one of the previous content containing the term the user has previously consumed is presented.

Triggering personalized search queries based on physiological and behavioral patterns

Techniques relate to adapting communications. A computer system receives initial content and event constraints related to a to-be-delivered communication and extracts information for recipients designated to receive the to-be-delivered communication. The computer system determines content utility values for topics of the initial content for each of the recipients, the content utility values for each of the topics being based on the information for each of the recipients. The computer system determines total content utility values for each of the topics in the initial content and selects elements of the to-be-delivered communication from a database based at least in part on the total content utility values for the topics and the event constraints.

Adapting communications according to audience profile from social media

A technique relates to tracking a foodstuff. A device images human consumable code formed on the foodstuff, the human consumable code being part of the foodstuff, the foodstuff being unpackaged. A coding associated with the human consumable code is determined. Product information of the foodstuff is retrieved from a computer system by using the coding. The product information of the foodstuff is provided on the device.

Image-based encoding

A computer system selects a set of content for a user. The set of content has been selected from a larger set of content located on multiple sources on one or more networks. The selecting is performed based on a time constraint of the user, on a level of relevance to that user of each item of content in the larger set of content, and on an expected amount of time the user will spend consuming each item of content in the larger set of content. The sources of content were previously provided by the user and the level of relevance of the content and expected amount of time the user will spend consuming each item of content are estimated based on historical data for that user. The computer system sends the selected content toward a user device used by the user. Methods, apparatus, and computer program products are disclosed.

Personalized content selection for time-constrained sessions

A wait time control method, system, and computer program product, includes extracting wait times for treatment at emergency facilities and routing times to the emergency facilities based on an emergency request and assigning a patient to an emergency facility by calculating a minimal treatment time for the patient comprising a minimum combined time of a wait time at the emergency facility and a routing time to the emergency facility from a location of the emergency request.

System, method and computer program product for dispatching of medical emergencies and wait time control

A method for transporting data from a source location to a destination location includes receiving the data from at least one sender at the source location, the sender specifying at least one recipient at the destination location; splitting the data into a plurality of portions; and finding one or more couriers who will travel from the source location to the destination location. The method also includes: while at least a given courier is at the source location, sending at least one of the plurality of portions to a mobile device of at least the given courier; once the given courier travels to the destination location, receiving the at least one of the portions from the mobile device of the given courier; and once the plurality of portions of the data have been received at the destination location, sending the data set to the at least one recipient.
