A casing for a combustor includes an upstream segment, a downstream segment and a joint. The downstream segment is constructed and arranged to move telescopically with respect to the upstream segment and along a centerline. The joint includes a flange and bonding material, which attaches the flange to the upstream segment or the downstream segment. A melting point of the bonding material is less than a melting point of the flange and/or a melting point of the segments.

A support hanger is provided for a turbine engine. The support hanger includes a pin with a pin head, a retainer and a flexible seal. The retainer is pivotally connected to the pin head. The retainer includes a seal bearing surface facing towards the pin head. The seal includes a retainer bearing surface sealingly engaging the seal bearing surface.

A turbine engine case includes a first panel, a second panel and a support hanger. The second panel defines an aperture. The support hanger includes a strut that is connected to the first panel, and a base that is pivotally connected to the strut. The base includes a pivot member that is pivotally engaged with the second panel. The base extends away from the strut and through the aperture to the pivot member.

A combustor assembly for a turbine engine includes a combustor liner, a flow sleeve and a baffle ring. The flow sleeve surrounds the combustor liner. An annulus is formed between the flow sleeve and the combustor liner. A plurality of row of cooling holes are formed in the flow sleeve. The baffle ring radially surrounds the combustor liner and is located in the annulus.

A combustor assembly for a turbine engine includes a combustor liner, a flow sleeve and a plenum ring. The flow sleeve surrounds the combustor liner to form an annulus radially between the combustor liner and the flow sleeve. The flow sleeve has a plurality of rows of cooling holes. The plenum ring radially surrounds the combustor liner in the annulus. The plenum ring has a plurality of bypass tubes for directing axial air flow and radial flow chambers for directing radial air flow.

In this regard, a representative a transition duct assembly for a gas turbine engine includes: an impingement sheet having cooling holes formed therethrough, an inlet end and a non-flanged outlet end, the impingement sheet being operative to be positioned about an exterior of a transition duct such that cooling air is directed to flow about the transition duct; the non-flanged outlet end of the impingement sheet being operative to attach the impingement sheet to the transition duct such that the inlet end is positioned adjacent to an intake end of the transition duct and the outlet end is positioned adjacent to an exhaust end of the transition duct.

A self-aligning hanger for use in a gas turbine engine exhaust system comprises a first bracket, a second bracket, a rod, a first ball joint and a second ball joint. The first bracket is for connecting to an exhaust duct of the gas turbine exhaust system. The second bracket is for connecting to an exhaust duct liner of the gas turbine exhaust system. The rod extends between the first bracket and the second bracket. The first ball joint connects a first end of the rod with the first bracket. The second ball joint connects a second end of the rod with the second bracket.

Self-aligning liner support hanger

Two composite parts, such as sheet and a hollow gas turbine liner tile, are fastened together using a fastening system that includes a journal bearing that fits in a bore in the sheet and springs to support a bolt fastener that is tightened to hold the parts together. Resilient spacers are placed between the sheet and the liner. The springs may comprise a stack of rings, each ring being a tightly wound helical spring, giving the ring a hollow cross section and resilient qualities.

Brittle composite structure for resiliently accomodating thermal

The exhaust in a gas turbine engine is lined with stacks of hollow cooling blocks made of a composite material. Air is pumped into each stack and escapes into the exhaust flow from a slot between the blocks in each stack. In addition, the blocks contain passages so that some of the airflow escapes to a space between the stacks. The blocks are attached using special fasteners that does not create mechanical stresses on the composite material.
