A dynamic sensor interface is provided. Such a dynamic sensor interface may include a reaction portion that includes a biological-based or chemical-based ink. Such ink reacts in response to a molecule of interest. The dynamic sensor interface may further include an electrode that detects the reaction by the ink in response to the molecule of interest, as well as a signal interface that emits a signal based on the electrode detecting the reaction. Such a dynamic sensor interface allows for information to be detected and communicated through and between both bio-chemical and electronic systems.

Communication using programmable materials

A method and apparatus of a device that incorporates a user preference into a multi-objective optimization while the multi-objective optimization is running is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device generates a first plurality of intermediate designs based on optimizing a plurality of variable values corresponding to the multiple dimensions of the multi-objective optimization. In addition, each of the first plurality of intermediate designs includes a corresponding weight. Furthermore, the device outputs the first plurality of intermediate designs. The device additionally receives a preference indicator for a selected one of the intermediate designs, where a user inputs the preference indicator while the multi-objective optimization is running. The device further adjusts the corresponding weight of the selected one of the first plurality of intermediate designs based on the preference indicator. In addition, the device generates a second plurality of intermediate designs using the adjusted corresponding weight of the selected one of the first plurality of intermediate designs.

Optimization learns from the user

A method and apparatus of a device that updates rules for a plurality of entities in a simulation as the simulation is running is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device receives configuration parameters for the simulation, where the configuration parameters include a plurality of rules that control the interactions of the plurality of entities in the simulation. In addition, the device performs the simulation for a first plurality of iterations. Furthermore, the device analyzes the simulation results to determine if there is an update for the plurality of rules. If there is an update for the plurality of rules, the device creates the rule update for the plurality of rules. The device additionally applies the rule update to the plurality of rules.

Simulation updates the design

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to interface with objects. A computer-implemented scene having two or more objects is displayed and a corresponding list of the two or more objects is displayed in independent categories called facets and in an ungrouped flat list. A user identifies a viewpoint within the scene that establishes a location and an orientation within a space of the scene from which to view the scene objects. Dynamically and independently from additional user actions, a proximity of each of the two or more objects from the viewpoint is determined. The ungrouped list of the two or more objects is sorted based on the proximities and displayed.
