A process is described for producing hydrocarbon fractions which can be used as diesel fuel or as components of diesel fuel, starting from a mixture of a biological origin containing esters of fatty acids possibly with amounts of free fatty acids, which comprises the following steps: 1) hydrodeoxygenation of the mixture of a biological origin; 2) hydroisomerization of the mixture resulting from step (1), after possible purification treatment, said hydroisomerization being effected in the presence of a catalytic system which comprises: a) a carrier of acid nature comprising a completely amorphous micro-mesoporous silico-alumina having a SiO/AlOmolar ratio ranging from 30 to 500, a surface area greater than 500 m/g, a pore volume ranging from 0.3 to 1.3 ml/g, an average pore diameter lower than 40 &#x212b;, b) a metallic component containing one or more metals of group VIII, possibly mixed with one or more metals of group VIB.

Process for producing hydrocarbon fractions from mixtures of a biological origin

Provided is a process for producing, in a single step, hydrocarbon fractions useful as diesel fuel or as a component of diesel fuel, from a mixture of a biological origin containing esters of fatty acids and, optionally, aliquots of free fatty acids. The process comprises the contemporaneous hydrodeoxygenation and hydroisomerization of the mixture of a biological origin, with the formation of linear and branched paraffins. The process is carried out in the presence of a catalytic composition comprising an amorphous carrier of an acidic nature and a metallic component containing one or more metals of group VIII.

Hydrogen sulfide is oxidized to sulfur by means of treatment with an aqueous acid solution containing trivalent iron and a hetero polyacid having formula (I): HXVMO; or a sole hetero polyacid having formula (II): HMeMO; wherein the symbols X, M Me n and y are specified in the text. At the end of the oxidation, the solution is treated with gas containing oxygen to re-oxidize the reduced metal.

The present invention regards a catalytic composition comprising gallium, at least one element chosen in the group of the lanthanides, and a zeolite belonging to the MFI, MEL or MFI/MEL families, the crystal lattice of which is made up of silicon oxide and at least one metal oxide chosen from among aluminum oxide, boron oxide and gallium oxide. Preferably, in the catalytic compositions of the present invention a zeolite is used belonging to the MFI family characterized by crystallites which for at least 90% have diameters smaller than 500 &#x212b; and which can form agglomerates of submicron dimensions characterized by possessing at least 30% of the extrazeolitic porosity in the region of the mesopores. The catalytic compositions of the present invention can, in addition, contain rhenium. These catalytic compositions are useful in processes of aromatization of hydrocarbons containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, preferably, hydrocarbon mixtures containing olefins.

A highly selective process is described for preparing 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene which comprises reacting a naphthalene hydrocarbon selected from naphthalene, methylnaphthalenes, dimethylnaphthalenes, trimethylnaphthalenes, polymethylnaphthalenes, and/or their mixtures with one or more benzene hydrocarbons selected from benzene, toluene, xylenes, trimethylbenzenes, tetramethylbenzenes, pentamethylbenzene and/or hexamethylbenzene, under at least partially liquid phase conditions and in the presence of a catalytic composition comprising a zeolite belonging to the MTW structural type and at least one element selected from P, B and Si. The process is preferably carried out in the presence of a methylating agent.

Aromatic hydrocarbon compounds are produced by a process of contacting one or more aliphatic hydrocarbons containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms with a catalytic composition comprising (i) gallium, (ii) at least one lanthanide element, and (iii) a zeolite selected from the group consisting of the MIF family of zeolites, the crystal lattice of which consists of silicon oxide and aluminum oxide in a molar ratio of silicon oxide to aluminum oxide which is greater than 20 and less than 500, and is comprised of crystallites, at least 90% of which have diameters smaller than 500 &#x212b;.

A process is described for the contemporaneous preparation of mesitylene and durene, characterized in that mesitylene and durene are obtained exclusively starting from pseudo-cumene without the use of any further chemical compound, operating in continuous, at a temperature ranging from 210 to 400&#xb0; C., at a pressure ranging from 1 to 50 bar, with a weight space velocity ranging from 0.1 to 20 hoursand in the presence of a catalyst based on crystalline metal-silicates in acid form. After the recovery of mesitylene and durene from the reaction raw product, some of the remaining components of the raw product itself are recycled and fed to the reactor together with the pseudo-cumene.

The object of the present invention relates to a simple, rapid and inexpensive process for effecting solid-liquid separations in the case of zeolites, also having small crystals. This process, which is particularly useful for the recovery of zeolite crystals in suspension in the crystallization water, comprises treating this suspension of crystals with an acid or one of its precursors and subjecting the resulting mixture to filtration or decanting. According to a particular aspect of the invention, the crystalline phase is separated in a mixture with oxides which can be used as ligands. Said oxides can be generated by the reagents of the zeolite preparation reagent mixture, not transformed into crystalline phase during the synthesis hydrothermal treatment, or they can be added to the suspension of crystals before the separation treatment, or again they can be generated by precursors suitably added to the crystallization slurry.

Process for obtaining a 'diesel cut' fuel by the oligomerization of olefins or their mixtures

The present invention relates to a process for preparing bisphenols which comprises reacting a carbonyl compound containing at least two carbon atoms with an aromatic compound, containing a hydroxyl group and at least one hydrogen atom bound to the aromatic ring, in the presence of a catalyst comprising a zeolite characterized by a spaciousness index equal to or higher than 8. The invention also relates to a method for the regeneration of the zeolitic catalyst used in this process and comprises subjecting the exhausted catalyst to hot treatment with a suitable aromatic compound containing at least one activating group, preferably the same hydroxylated aromatic compound used in the process for the preparation of bisphenols from which the exhausted catalyst derives.
