A method for conducting a chemical process in which a feed containing at least one liquid is introduced into a vessel containing a plurality of packed, vertically arranged tubes, and in which at least one liquid product and at least one gaseous product are obtained, in which the tubes and a space above them are kept flooded with liquid by controlled removal of liquid product from the lower portion of the vessel.

Method for conducting a chemical process in a packed multi-tubular

An improved process for producing alkyl, lower cycloalkyl, lower cycloalkylmethyl, lower alkenyl, phenyl, benzyl, chloro-substituted phenyl and certain haloalkyl chlorothioformates by the reaction of the corresponding mercaptan with phosgene. The process is conducted in two stages, both occurring in a continuous liquid phase, in the presence of an activated carbon catalyst. Production of by-product disulfide is minimized and overall capacity can be increased.

Production of ethyl chlorothioformate

An improved process for producing ethyl chlorothioformate by the reaction of ethyl mercaptan with phosgene. The process is conducted in two stages, both occurring in a continuous liquid phase, in the presence of an activated carbon catalyst. Production of by-product diethyl disulfide is minimized and overall capacity can be increased.
