Provided is a compound of formula (I): or a salt thereof, wherein R-Rhave any of the values described in the specification, as well as compositions comprising a compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and therapeutic methods comprising the administration of a compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds are useful as matrix metalloprotease MMP-12 inhibitors.
