The method includes: determining a residual rate to identify a decoding estimate for a first packet sent from a wireless first transmitter; determining a grouping of transmitters including the first transmitter and a wireless second transmitter scheduled to transmit a second packet; performing power optimization by determining lowest necessary transmission powers corresponding, respectively, to transmissions of the first packet from the first transmitter and of the second packet from the second transmitter, wherein the transmissions of the first and second packets are within a same time-frequency resource and together define a signal to be received at the receiver; and encoding for transmission to the first and second transmitters information on the signal based on the residual rate, the grouping and the power optimization.

The disclosure relates to techniques for beamforming in multi-user systems. The disclosure particularly relates to a base station for communication with multiple user terminals, the base station comprising: a digital precoder and an analog precoder which are configured to precode a first training signal; a radio transceiver configured to transmit the precoded first training signal and to receive a precoded second training signal upon transmission of the precoded first training signal; and a controller configured to adjust a precoding of the digital precoder based on processing of the second training signal with respect to a normalization criterion and to adjust a precoding of the analog precoder based on processing of the second training signal with respect to a multi-user beamforming criterion.

A method of estimating a channel for mobile systems with insufficient cyclic prefix length, wherein the channel comprises a plurality of multipath components (,), includes: receiving a signal (y) comprising a plurality of contributions of a transmit signal (x[k], x[k]) transmitted during a plurality of transmission time intervals (n, n&#x2212;1) on a plurality of sub-carriers of known pilots (k&#x2208;P) and a plurality of sub-carriers of unknown data (k&#x2209;P); determining an estimate of the plurality of multipath components (,) based on a probabilistic relation between the plurality of first contributions (x[k], x[k]) of the transmit signal, wherein the plurality of first contributions are transmitted during adjacent transmission time intervals (n, n&#x2212;1), and an observation of the received signal (y[k]) at a subcarrier (k&#x2208;P) of the known pilots, wherein the probabilistic relation is based on statistical properties of the plurality of first contributions (x[k], x[k]) of the transmit signal.

Methods and devices for channel estimation for mobile systems of insufficient cyclic prefix length

A method for processing one or more received radio signals is provided. The method may include performing a channel estimation of a transmission channel for at least a portion of the one or more radio signals received, to identify at least one soft channel parameter representing a channel impulse response of the transmission channel, and identifying at least one soft intercarrier interference parameter representing an interference for the one or more radio signals received using a first frequency carrier. The interference is caused by the one or more radio signals received using a second frequency carrier. The method may further include detecting soft data from the one or more radio signals based at least on the at least one soft channel parameter and the at least one soft intercarrier interference parameter.

Devices and methods for processing one or more received radio signals

A method includes determining a sequence of first coefficient estimates of a communication channel based on a sequence of pilots arranged according to a known pilot pattern and based on a receive signal, wherein the receive signal is based on the sequence of pilots transmitted over the communication channel. The method further includes determining a sequence of second coefficient estimates of the communication channel based on a decomposition of the first coefficient estimates in a dictionary matrix and a sparse vector of the second coefficient estimates, the dictionary matrix including filter characteristics of at least one known transceiver filter arranged in the communication channel.
