The present invention relates to polymer composites containing at least one, optionally hydrogenated, nitrile rubber polymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4 @ 100&#xb0; C.) in the range of from 50&#x2013;30 at least one filler and optionally at least one cross-linking agent, a process for preparing said polymer composite wherein at least one, optionally hydrogenated, nitrile rubber polymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4 @ 100&#xb0; C.) in the range of from 50&#x2013;30, at least one filler and optionally at least one cross-linking agent are mixed and a process for the manufacture of a shaped article including the step of injection molding a polymer composite containing at least one, optionally hydrogenated, nitrile rubber polymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4 @ 100&#xb0; C.) in the range of from 50-30, at least one filler and at least one cross-linking agent.

Hydrogenated nitrile rubber compositions with improved processability

Covulcanization of polymers

Disclosed herein is a process for the production of hydrogenated nitrile rubber. The appearance of corrosion in the plant equipment in which hydrogenated nitrile rubber is produced is due to the unexpected presence of relatively large amounts of HCl, generated, surprisingly, by the hydro-dehalogenation of the monochlorobenzene solvent under the reaction conditions. The addition of a compatible weakly basic additive, such as Epoxidized Soy Bean Oil (ESBO), to the reaction mixture has alleviated this serious problem.

Process for the production of hydrogenated nitrile rubber

The invention relates to an elastoemeric composition which comprises: (I) a vinyl solution SBR/silica-containing masterbatch, which contains preferably from 40 to 120 parts by weight of silica per 100 parts by weight of polymer, and (ii) a high cis polybutadiene/silica-containing masterbatch, which contains preferably from 40 to 120 parts by weight of silica per 100 parts by weight of polymer wherein silica has been hydrophobicized.
