The present invention provides self-disabling tamper evident gift cards, and methods for making and using the gift cards. The gift cards comprise a hidden lower level activation code, and an upper level activation code that is visible. The gift cards incorporate one or more features that render either the lower level or upper level, or both, activation codes unreadable once the lower level activation code is revealed. This prevents card activation at a later time after a first instance when the activation code is accessed.

Self-disabling tamper-evident gift cards

Described herein is a polar non-aqueous dispersion comprising polar polymeric microparticles in a polar non-aqueous medium, the polar polymeric microparticles being insoluble in the medium and being produced by dispersion polymerization of vinyl monomers such as acrylate monomers in the medium in the presence of a polymeric acrylic stabilizer. Inks, coatings and overprint varnishes are formulated that employ the polar non-aqueous dispersion. Such inks, etc., exhibit superior chemical resistance properties, for example in one-part and two-part systems.

Polar functional non-aqueous acrylic dispersions

A method for measuring the radiant exposure of energy curable inks or coatings on a printing press. The steps for measuring comprise: a) providing an ink or coating material comprising a fluorescent probe; b) transferring the ink or coating material onto a substrate using a printing process; c) exposing the ink or coating material to actinic radiation capable of initiating cure of the ink or coating material that also alters the luminescence of the probe; d) exposing the ink or coating to a first source of excitation light with wavelength and luminance capable of absorption by the fluorescent probe; and e) measuring the emitted light from the fluorescent probe by a first detector.

In-line coating weight and radiant energy exposure measurement

This invention discloses a radiation curable barrier coating composition for application to paper or paperboard substrates that can be applied using a conventional flexographic printing process. The coating composition includes one or more hydrophobic cycloaliphatic radiation curable monomers, one or more alcohol-functional waxes or sterols, and one or more other hydrophobic wax materials. The incorporation of these materials together lowers the MVTR of the coating compared to other radiation curable compositions while also generating improved, higher gloss. This invention also discloses a method to manufacture the coating composition and a preferred method to print the coating composition.

Printable radiation curable barrier coatings

Monatomic metal anions are generated in the gas phase by collision-induced dissociation of the anions [] of a dicarboxylic acid salt of the metal. Method for producing gas-phase metal anions

A water washable lithographic newspaper ink comprising: a modified soybean oil based resin; pigment; an acid neutralizing agent; and a humectant. In addition, the ink according to the present invention may also comprise water, and a rewetting agent, preferably hydroxyethyl ethylene urea.
