A line of sight blocker including a cover defining a duct bounded by the cover and a heated surface when the cover is fastened over the heated surface. The cover blocks transmission of infrared radiation emitted from the heated surface; the cover comprises a material having a lower thermal conductivity than the heated surface; and the duct comprises a vent and a path for latent heat from the heated surface to escape through the vent.

Passive infrared reduction device

An opposed conical elastomeric bearing assembly includes a first conical elastomeric bearing with a first inner race and a first outer race, and a second conical elastomeric bearing with a second inner race and a second outer race. Assembling the opposed conical elastomeric bearing assembly may include positioning an outer surface of the second outer race in contact with an inner surface of the first outer race. Assembling the opposed conical elastomeric bearing assembly further includes applying an axial force to urge the first conical elastomeric bearing and the second conical elastomeric bearing together such that a leading edge of the second inner race contacts a shoulder of the first inner race, and, while applying the axial force, deforming a projecting portion of the first inner race such that an outer diameter of the projecting portion is expanded to frictionally engage an inner surface of the second inner race.

Attachment of opposed conical elastomeric bearings

Example doors for ducted fan inlet openings are disclosed herein. An example apparatus disclosed herein includes a door and a duct of a ducted fan unit extending through a body of an aircraft. The duct of the example apparatus defines a passageway between a first opening in a first side of the body and a second opening in a second side of the body opposite the first side. The example apparatus also includes an actuation system to move the door between a first position in which the door is disposed over the first opening and a second position in which the door is disposed over the first side of the body and outside of a diameter of the first opening. In the example apparatus, the door is orientated generally parallel to the first side of the body throughout movement of the door between the first position and the second position.

Ducted fan doors for aircraft

An apparatus that includes a first member pivotably connected to a second member that is pivotably connected to a third member. The second member pivots about a first axis with respect to the first member and the third member pivots about a second axis with respect to the second member. The apparatus includes a first encoder configured to determine a first angle of rotation between the first member and the second member and a second encoder configured to determine a second angle of rotation between the second member and the third member. The first and second axes may be transverse to each other. The apparatus may be connected to a rotary aircraft with an object connected to the third member via a cable. The encoders may communicate with a display and/or a processor to display the location and/or movement of the object with respect to the rotary aircraft.
