A color reversal photographic element comprises a support bearing a red-sensitive, cyan dye-forming unit, a green-sensitive, magenta dye-forming unit, and a blue-sensitive, yellow dye-forming unit, each unit comprising a photosensitive silver halide layer and an image-dye forming coupler; the element contains an interimage effect-controlling means which is characterized as having the capability of simultaneously forming a red image of high relative chroma and a yellow-red tint image of substantially lower relative chroma when the element is exposed to a red color standard object having CIELab values for D.sub.55 reference white a*=30.46, b*=19.16, C*=35.98, L*=40.12 and a yellow-red tint color standard object having CIELab values for D.sub.55 reference white a*=17.26, b*=18.01, C*=24.95, L*=66.98; the resulting images have a red reproduction coefficient equal to or greater than 0.88 and a ratio of red reproduction coefficient to yellow-red tint reproduction coefficient equal to or greater than 1.15.

Color photographic reversal element with improved color reproduction

A photographic element capable of forming a reversal image is disclosed having an emulsion layer containing a blend of spectrally sensitized tabular iodohalide grains and a second, slower fine grain population of a higher overall solubility silver salt content for increasing speed and contrast. A second dye is adsorbed to the surface of the second grain population to provide a further increase in threshold speed.

Novel N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides and polymers thereof including copolymers of N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides and styrene are prepared by reacting 4-vinylaniline with an amine and a sulfonyl chloride in the presence of an acid acceptor to produce the monomer to be polymerized. The homo- and copolymers of these N-(vinylphenyl)sulfonamides are useful as vesiculating matrices in vesicular elements.

N-(Vinylphenyl) sulfonamides

A light-sensitive vesicular imaging composition comprising a vesiculating agent which liberates gas upon exposure to activating radiation, and a binder which is a sulfonamide polymer having the sulfur-nitrogen linkage either in the polymer chain or as a pendant moiety. The composition is coated as a thin film. Imagewise irradiation of the element causes gas bubbles to be released in the exposed areas, which bubbles may be developed by overall heating to a visible record.
