A dumbbell supporting system includes a platform having an upper surface and a lower surface. The upper surface is receives a dumbbell. A mount is removably attached to a post has a vertical orientation. An arm is attached to and extends between the mount and the platform. The platform is pivotally coupled to the arm and the mount is pivotally coupled to the arm.

A dumbbell system a plurality of weights vertically stackable on top of each other and each of the weights has a pair of outer edges disposed oppositely from each other to define a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. The weights each have a centrally displaced opening vertically extending therethrough and defining a receiving space. The receiving space of each weight is vertically aligned with the receiving space of each of the other weights. A handle is removably extendable into the receiving space. A coupler releasably engages a selected one of the weights to the handle and defines a coupled weight. The coupled weight and each of the weights positioned above the coupled weight is releasably secured to the handle. Each of the weights positioned below the coupled weight are disengaged from the handle.

Dumbbell system

A set of dumbbells comprises a plurality of dumbbells of different weights with the dumbbells having a common length. A plurality of adder weights is provided with each adder weight having a cavity that is sized to receive the common length of any one of the dumbbells. Any one of the dumbbells is dropped down into the cavity of any one of the adder weights. A slide retainer is then slid into a slideway on the any one adder weight to overlie the dumbbell and secure the dumbbell to the any one adder weight. The slide retainer has a window therein to allow a user to reach through the slide retainer and grip a hand grip of the dumbbell.

A selectorized dumbbell includes a horizontal stack of nested left weight plates and a horizontal stack of spaced right weight plates with the stacks being separated by a gap into which a handle may be inserted. A selector is movable into different positions relative to the handle to vary how many nested left and right weight plates from the stacks thereof are coupled to the handle to vary the exercise mass of the handle. Each left weight plate has a counterpart right weight plate counterpart which are coupled together by at least one interconnecting member having a first keyhole slot connection between the left end of the interconnecting member and the left weight plate and a second keyhole slot connection between the right end of the interconnecting member and the right weight plate.

A selectorized dumbbell has a handle that comprises a selector receiver and a hand grip that are separated from one another to allow a weight selector to be installed in the selector receiver. The position of the weight selector in the selector receiver determines how many of a plurality of nested weights are joined to the handle to thereby select the exercise mass of the dumbbell. After the weight selector is so installed, the hand grip is dropped into the selector receiver and is joined thereto by a connector so that the selector receiver and hand grip then act as a unitary handle to permit exercise with the selected number of weights. When so installed, the hand grip telescopically fits into the weight selector to affirmatively prevent the weight selector from inadvertently dislodging.

A selectorized dumbbell has a plurality of nested weights that provide a stack of left weight plates and a stack of right weight plates. A handle is dropped between the stacks and a selector is inserted into one of a plurality of vertically spaced positions on the handle to couple a selected number of the weights to the handle. The selector has a continuous periphery enclosing an open interior. A user who is exercising with the dumbbell will be alerted to unintended dislodgement of the selector since a portion of the selector's periphery will contact a portion of the user's grip hand, wrist or forearm during such dislodgement. This prevents complete dislodgement and prompts the user to restore the selector to a fully installed position. Side walls of the selector may become curved when the selector is installed to provide an additional frictional force resisting dislodgement of the selector.

A selectorized dumbbell comprises a handle assembly that comprises a generally triangularly shaped handle housing having an upwardly extending loop style handle in the manner of a kettlebell handle. The handle housing has angled side walls that provide surfaces on which the user's forearm can rest when doing certain exercises. The handle housing is hollow inside. A set of generally triangularly shaped add-on weights of progressively decreasing size can be nested inside one another with the set of weights being nested inside the handle housing. A repositionable connecting pin can be placed into different positions on the handle housing to selectively couple a desired number of the add-on weights to the handle housing.

An exercise equipment frame, such as a power cage, is formed from uprights that comprise at least two sections that are telescopically interfit with one another. The sections have an interference fit between them when the telescopic interconnection is made that is tight enough to require the use of a tool that enables leverage greater than that achievable by the hand pressure of a user. The sections may be of substantially equal length to one another when forming the main uprights of the frame to allow packaging of the sections when disassembled in a carton of more regular dimensions. The sections may also be unequal length to allow coupling of a frame extension to the top of a completed power cage type frame.

An exercise machine for performing barbell type free weight lifting exercises has a power cage or Smith press type frame, an elongated bar held on the frame in a substantially horizontal resting position, and an adjustable exercise mass assembly that allows a user to select an exercise weight from among a plurality of choices of different exercise weights provided by the exercise mass assembly. The exercise mass assembly is separate from the bar and any auxiliary weight plates carried on the bar. A cable and pulley system operatively connects the bar to a movable portion of the exercise mass assembly that provides the selected exercise weight. A powered actuator sets up the bar for performing a weight lifting exercise by lifting the movable portion of the exercise mass assembly up above a second portion of the exercise mass assembly that remains stationary during the particular weight lifting exercise.

A selectorized dumbbell has a plurality of nested weights which each have a box-shaped configuration comprising spaced left and right weight plates joined by planar, substantially imperforate, front and rear walls. The front and rear walls of the nested weights are very thin in comparison to the weight plates, extend over substantially the full height of the weight plates, and are joined to the weight plates along substantially their entire height. A selector comprises a pair of connecting members that coact between a handle of the dumbbell and upper portions of the front and rear walls of the nested weights to select a desired number of the weights for use with the handle depending upon the selected positions of the connecting members.
