A saw blade and saw-blade support are provided for a power-driven saw. The saw blade has planar cutting members and planar link members which are pivotally connected together. Each cutting member has a recess for receiving a portion of a link member. The saw-blade support is a blade support face, including a generally straight first section for bearing the cutting load, an arcuate second section merging with the straight first section and defining an end of the elongate member, and an arcuate third section merging with the arcuate second section, but having less curvature than the second section. The end of the saw-blade support carried by the power drive components has an outwardly-flared guide wall for leading said saw blade from the power drive onto the saw-blade support.

Articulated endless-band saw blade and support therefor

A power-driven saw is disclosed having a readily-detachable, integrated endless-belt cutting assembly unit. The saw includes a power unit having a housing, and further includes a cutting assembly unit which can be mounted on the power unit, and detached therefrom, as a unit. The integrated cutting assembly unit includes a generally plate-like cutting element support, and an endless-belt cutting element (e.g., a saw chain articulated blade, or the like) which extends generally about the periphery of the support for high speed cutting movement thereabout. The integrated cutting assembly unit further includes means for driving the endless-belt cutting element, with the drive means being operatively-coupled with the motor of the power unit of the saw when the integrated cutting assembly unit is mounted to the power unit. The integrated cutting assembly unit further includes means for selectively-varying the tension of the endless saw blade for assuring optimum cutting performance, and which, desirably, permits the cutting element to be selectively-tensioned even when the integrated cutting assembly is detached from the power unit. The easily-detachable nature of the integrated cutting assembly unit greatly facilitates maintenance of the cutting element, and permits the power unit of the saw to be easily equipped with a new cutting element so as to avoid or minimize undesirable interruptions in cutting operations.

A power driven saw is provided with an endless array of planar cutting members interconnected to form an articulated saw blade that resists inward bending. The cutting members are disposed about the periphery of an elongated saw blade support structure to present a circumferential band of cutting teeth.

A portable power driven implement having a motor as a power source and a drive train which is compact and the components of which are readily accessible, in which the motor rotates drive means which is connected to rotate output means, and in which a linking member connected to the rotating output means imparts reciprocating motion to a tool member, the linking member spanning the drive means and configured to avoid interfering engagement therewith.

Portable power driven implement

Animal-actuated watering valve means comprises a coil of metallic spring wire having a plurality of convolutions and an outer sheath of a resilient material about the convolutions, the material having a substantially uniform radial thickness and exerting a radial compressive force on the spring wire along the length of the convolutions. An elongated actuator means for deflection by an animal is operably associated with the coil. The valve means is operable by parting or compressing the convolutions thereof, and is manufactured by threading a substantially uniform tubing made of a resilient material onto a spring made of coiled spring wire. The threading operation is accomplished by providing an uncoiled tail portion for the spring, first threading the tubing onto the tail portion, and thereafter transferring the threaded tubing from the tail portion onto a coiled portion of the spring.
