A protective non-helmeted single molded facemask for sports includes a frame structure formed of a polycarbonate polymer that is structured and configured to engage a user's forehead, side and cheek facial structure and chin. An arrangement of vertical and horizontal bars in the central and lower portion of the face area of the facemask protect the users nose and mouth from direct contact with external objects, and particularly softballs, soccer balls, floor hockey sticks and pucks and field hockey sticks and balls. Upper and lower straps extend from slotted openings on the sides of the facemask and are positioned and arranged to extend around the lower back of the wearer's head to secure the facemask on the wearer's head. The facemask is designed to also significantly reduce the effective impact forces to the wearer's brain.

Universal non-helmeted protective facemask

A protective non-helmeted single molded facemask for sports includes a frame structure formed of a polycarbonate polymer and an integrally molded rigid eye shield formed of a transparent polycarbonate polymer composition. The peripheral frame structure is structured and configured to engage a user's forehead, side and cheek facial structure and chin. An arrangement of vertical and horizontal bars in the lower portion of the face area of the facemask are structured and configured to protect the users nose and mouth from direct contact with external objects, while the rigid eye shield on the upper face area of the facemask protects the users eyes from direct impact and contact with external objects. Upper and lower straps extend from slotted openings on the sides of the facemask and are positioned and arranged to extend around the lower back of the wearer's head to secure the facemask on the wearer's head.

A universal combination sweatband, headband, and protective headgear device covers and protects crucial areas around the entire circumference of a user's head while conforming to each user's particular anatomy, including head shape and size. Two or more layers of impact absorbing elastomeric polymer materials having full elastic memory are encapsulated on either the inside or the external part of the headgear, between inner and outer layers of moisture absorbing material, such as neoprene or cotton knitted fabric. Hook and loop fasteners or stretching allow for adjusted fitting to the user's head. The elastomeric polymer layers are structured and disposed to absorb and dissipate significant impact forces. The two or more layers of elastomeric polymeric materials are provided with an arrangement of ventilation holes formed therethrough to allow perspiration to be transferred from the inner layer to the outer layer of moisture absorbing material for dissipation.

Universal protective headgear

Focus enhancing blinders for usage in sporting activities and other activities that require visual focus and concentration. More particularly, the invention is a perspiration-absorbing headband worn by players of tennis and other sports where hand-eye coordination is critical. In one mode, the headband includes a slot to hold and guide blinders that extend to the areas on the outside of each eye, functioning to block off a previously-determined degree of peripheral vision. This assists a player in the difficult task of keeping his or her visual focus straight ahead and directly on a ball, thus enhancing the user's performance. This also keeps one reading or studying focused on the task at hand. In the preferred mode, the blinders are of a length of one to four inches and are held in place through the usage of Velcro on the inside of the blinders and outside of the headband. In the preferred mode, Velcro is also placed along the ear on both sides past the open slot to hold the blinders. Importantly, the blinders can move out from the slot to cover the peripheral vision as required. The user may utilize both blinders, one blinder, or neither; as the player improves on his or her focus, the blinders can be moved back toward the ear to a point where they are no longer required.

Focus-enhancing blinders

A sweatband designed to be worn on a user for usage in a variety of sporting activities. The sweatband comprises inserts for the purpose of protecting the user, which may be permanently placed or removable. In the preferred mode, the inserts are polymeric and function to absorb and dissipate impact forces with which the user comes in contact. Importantly, the inserts may be strategically placed within the sweatband, such as in the areas most vulnerable to concussion or injury upon impact. In an alternate embodiment, the polymeric inserts may be removed from the sweatband. In total, the invention provides a novel, lightweight means to protect the athlete, while effectively functioning to absorb perspiration.

Apparatus for enhancing absorption and dissipation of impact forces for sweatbands

A sweatband designed to be worn on the head of a user under a pre-existing helmet, for usage in a variety of sporting activities. Due to the presence of an additional layer beneath the helmet, it takes additional time for impact forces to reach the user's head, thus providing greater protection. In the preferred mode, the device comprises a generally tubular 'horizontal' sweatband portion, much like a typical headband. In an enhanced mode, the horizontal member is affixed to a 'vertical' portion that is perpendicular to the horizontal portion, extending from the user's forehead, over the crown of the head, and to the back of the head. In still another embodiment, three such bands are utilized for maximum coverage of critical areas of the head. The sweatband of the present invention comprises inserts for the purpose of protecting the user, which may be permanently placed or removable. In the preferred mode, the inserts are polymeric and function to absorb and dissipate impact forces with which the user's head comes in contact. Importantly, the inserts may be strategically placed within the sweatband, such as in the areas most vulnerable to concussion or injury upon impact. Apparatus for enhancing absorption and dissipation of impact forces for sweatbands used in connection with helmets

A sweatband designed to be worn on the head of a user engaged in activities such as soccer. Specifically, in the preferred mode, the device comprises a &ldquo;horizontal&rdquo; sweatband portion, much like a typical headband. In an enhanced mode, the horizontal member is affixed to a &ldquo;vertical&rdquo; portion that is perpendicular to the horizontal portion, extending from the user's forehead, over the crown of the head, and to the back of the head. In either instance, the sweatband of the present invention comprises inserts for the purpose of protecting the user, which may be permanently placed or removable. In the preferred mode, the inserts are polymeric and function to absorb and dissipate impact forces with which the user's head comes in contact. Importantly, the inserts may be strategically placed within the sweatband, such as in the areas most vulnerable to concussion or injury upon impact. In addition, the polymeric inserts may be removed from the sweatband so that the sweatband may be conveniently washed. Alternatively, the sweatband may be washed with the insert permanently placed therein. In total, the invention provides a novel, lightweight means to protect the head of the athlete, while effectively functioning to absorb perspiration.

An impact and energy absorbing product for floors, walls, panels, crash mats and other flat surfaces. More particularly, the invention teaches the usage of coiled springs in conjunction with polymeric materials or metals such as titanium or steel, to help absorb and dissipate forces of humans and other objects coming in contact with said flat surfaces. Depending upon the exact environment in which the same are to be used, the coiled springs may be constructed of polymers or metals such as titanium or steel&mdash;lightweight, yet durable materials to accomplish the purposes of the invention. In the preferred mode of attachment, an insert is fitted to each end of each spring, with a flared insert then placed into a molded female slot upon a flat surface to hold the spring in place. Thus, a floor or wall surface may comprise a series of female slots such that multiple springs can easily slide therein. The springs may be spread throughout the area to be protected, providing a completely controlled protected area to help effectively absorb and dissipate forces upon impact. As such, the assembly of the present invention may be utilized for items such as crash mats for many sports, wall mats in gymnasiums, or wall boards in indoor or outdoor rinks and arenas.

Impact and energy absorbing product for floors, walls, and other flat surfaces

Improved eyewear designs allow for circulation of air between the eyes and lenses to prevent fog from appearing on the lenses, the eyewear utilized in a host of sporting activities and work areas that require glasses or goggles for safety purposes. A first embodiment of the invention teaches the use of beveled members affixed to the interior portion of the frames of the glasses or goggles, such that the spaced apart members come in direct contact with the user's forehead, allowing for continuous air flow between the beveled members to the user's eyes. The spacers may be placed on the inside of the frames, attached to the frames by simple adhesives. The distance between the spacers may be of a range of one-quarter to three-eighths inches, and the spacers may be of a similar width as the outside frame. The edges may be rounded or beveled for user comfort. Regarding goggles that completely enclose the eye area, an additional embodiment describes eyewear frames bearing air holes through the circumference of each eye portion. The size of such apertures may range from one-sixteenth to three-eighths inches in diameter, and are included to accomplish the purpose of allowing sufficient airflow through the eye area to prevent fog from forming.

An apparatus for enhancing absorption and dissipation of impact forces for all helmets and protective equipment. More particularly, the invention is a series of detachable pre-formed pads that each include a rigid or semi-rigid insert for enhanced protection and effectiveness. In one mode of production, at least one rigid or semi-rigid layer is located within the pad, or covered by pliable pad material on all sides. In a second mode, at least one rigid member or semi-rigid appears on the exterior surface of the pad, with pliable materials located beneath. In still another mode, at least one rigid or semi-rigid member appears on the interior surface of the pad, providing great versatility to the manufacturer or user. As such, the device is specifically designed to improve the absorption and dissipation of primary forces directly into items such as a plurality of previously existing pads and chest protectors, as well as to the shell of helmets.

Apparatus for enhancing absorption and dissipation of impact forces for all helmets and protective equipment

An improved protective headgear apparatus for usage in connection with sporting activities, such as football, hockey, cycling, and the like, and other activities requiring the usage of protective head gear. The protective headgear apparatus is specifically designed to improve the absorption and dissipation of primary forces directly into the shell of the helmet. The assembly comprises a plurality of pre-formed protective pads removably affixed to critical areas of the exterior of the helmet shell for the purpose of decreasing trauma and concussion to users thereof. Such critical or vulnerable locations are: (1) each side of the helmet, at the ear and above the ear; (2) the front of the helmet, between and above the eyes; (3) the rear or occipital area; and (4) the crown of the dome. The pre-formed protective pads function to receive primary forces, with the shell receiving secondary forces, the interior padding receiving additional forces, and only the remaining dissipated forces being distributed to the user's head and brain. Such ancillary protective pad members may be designed to release from the shell when the force of a glancing blow is greater than the force of the fastening attachment. Usage of the invention adds minimal weight to the helmet, with no holes or modifications added to the helmet for attachment. The added protective pads further function to protect the shell of the helmet from fractures and cracks. Thus, the invention allows for increased safety and protection in an inexpensive manner, one that can be manufactured and distributed with relative ease.
