A centrifugal separator and a method of controlling a centrifugal separator are disclosed. The centrifugal separator includes a separator rotor delimiting a separation space. At least one tube extends from at least one radially outer portion of the separation space towards a central portion of the separator rotor. The method includes inter alia changing a rotational speed of the separator rotor from a first rotational speed to a second rotational speed, such that a heavy phase accumulation at a periphery of the separation space is displaced in a circumferential direction.

The invention relates to a centrifugal separator comprising a casing which delimits and seals off a space in which a rotor is arranged. The rotor forms a separation space which is sealed or isolated from the space, and in which separation space centrifugal separation of a higher density and a lower density component from a fluid takes place. An inlet extends into the rotor for introducing fluid to the separation space, and a first outlet extends from the rotor for discharge of a component separated from the fluid. The space is connected to a pump device which is arranged to remove gas, thereby maintaining negative pressure in said space. The rotor comprises at least one second outlet extending from the separation space to the space for discharge of at least one higher density component separated from the fluid. The invention also relates to a method in such a centrifugal separator.

Centrifugal separator having energy consumption reducing devices

A centrifugal separator and a method for separation of particles from a gas stream is disclosed. The separator includes a frame, a gas inlet and a gas outlet. A centrifugal rotor is arranged to be rotatable in the frame around a rotational axis and includes a plurality of separation plates defining separation passages between the plates. A central gas chamber in the rotor communicates with a radially inner portion of the separation passages and the gas outlet. A space surrounding the rotor communicates with a radially outer portion of the separation passages and the gas inlet. A device is configured to bring the gas stream in rotation upstream of the rotor. The centrifugal rotor is configured such that the rotational flow of the gas mixture drives the rotation of the centrifugal rotor for separating particles from the same gas stream being conducted from the space surrounding the rotor, through the separation passages between the plates and towards the central gas chamber.

The invention relates to a centrifugal separator having a separation space with a set of separation plates, an inlet configured to feed a fluid product to be separated into the separation space, the inlet and the separation space being connected in a pressure mediating manner, a first and a second outlet extending from the separation space for discharge of a two phases of the product. A discharge control system is configured to trigger the opening of the second outlet upon a trigger condition, wherein the discharge control system comprises a sensor arranged to determine the inlet pressure and/or the inlet flow of fluid product, and the trigger condtion is associated with a decrease in inlet flow in relation to inlet pressure, indicating an increasing flow resistance downstream of the inlet. The invention further relates to a discharge control system and a method of controlling the intermittent discharge of a centrifugal separator.

A centrifugal separator for separation of particles from a gas stream is disclosed. The centrifugal separator includes a self-supporting frame for mounting inside an existing vessel for guiding the gas stream. The frame comprises a holder configured to hold the frame at a position inside the vessel, and a first partition for dividing the vessel into a first section and a second section. The first section is upstream of the second section. The separator includes a gas inlet communicating with the first section, and a gas outlet communicating with the second section. A centrifugal rotor is arranged to be rotatably supported in the frame around a rotational axis, the rotor having a first and a second end portion and including a plurality of separation plates defining separation passages between the plates. The centrifugal separator is configured such that the first and second sections communicate via the separation passages of the rotor.

A system includes a hermetic centrifugal separator, a recirculation system, a first monitoring system, a first control system, a pressure monitoring system, and a pressure control system. The separator includes a rotor, a separation chamber, an inlet channel for separating components, a first outlet channel for receiving separated light components, and a second outlet channel for receiving separated heavy components. The recirculation system recirculates the separated heavy components from the second outlet channel to the separation chamber. The first monitoring system monitors density and/or flow rate of the heavy components in the second outlet channel. The first control system controls flow rate in response to a control signal from the first monitoring system. The pressure monitoring system monitors pressure in the second outlet channel. The pressure control system controls a back pressure valve in the second outlet channel in response to a control signal from the pressure monitoring means.

A method and a device for separation of a fluid in the liquid state comprising two liquids that are not mutually miscible, with different densities, wherein a first liquid is to be cleansed from a second liquid, whereby the fluid in the liquid state is conducted through a rotor where centrifugal separation of the second liquid from the first liquid takes place, and is then conducted into a tank, with the proportion of the second liquid being reduced to less than 5%, and by conducting the fluid, after centrifugal separation, through a restriction, whereby the pressure of the fluid in the liquid state is reduced, which causes portions of the fluid in the liquid state to evaporate so that further portions of the second liquid escape in the form of a gas which is conducted away, thereby further reducing the proportion of the second liquid in the outgoing fluid in the liquid state.

Method and device for separation of a liquid fluid by centrifugal separation and evaporation

This document describes a device for cleaning of crankcase gases from a combustion engine, and a combustion engine having such a device. An inlet conduit is connected to a crankcase of the combustion engine. A centrifugal separator receives a flow of crankcase gases from the crankcase via the inlet conduit and comprises a routable centrifuge rotor for centrifuging the crankcase gases. A drive device drives the centrifuge rotor. An outlet conduit discharges cleaned crankcase gases from the centrifugal separator. The rotary speed of the drive device, and thus the rotary speed of the centrifuge rotor, is controllable depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase. An export conduit may be connected to the inlet conduit and adapted to enable discharge of a flow of crankcase gases from the crankcase by-passing the centrifugal separator depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase. An import conduit may be connected to the inlet conduit and adapted to enable feeding of a flow of air from the surroundings to the crankcase depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase.
