This specification describes unmanned ground vehicle track systems. In some examples, an unmanned ground vehicle includes a frame having right and left sides and right and left track assemblies, each track assembly being coupled to a corresponding side of the frame in parallel with the other track assembly. Each track assembly includes a drive pulley coupled to the corresponding side of the frame and a track including a continuous flexible belt supported by the drive pulley. The track includes an interior surface engaged with the drive pulley and an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, and the exterior surface of the track includes a plurality of flexible bristles. The unmanned ground vehicle includes one or more drive motors configured to drive the drive pulleys of the right and left track assemblies.

The present invention provides a shift mechanism disposed in a housing for providing operable communication between a shift actuator and a shift sleeve. The shift mechanism generally includes a shift rail, a shift fork, a first biasing member, and a second biasing member. The shift rail is slidably supported by the housing. The shift fork is slidably disposed on the shift rail and engages the shift sleeve. The first biasing member is disposed between the shift actuator and the shift rail for selectively biasing the shift rail in a first direction upon actuation of the shift actuator. The second biasing member is disposed between the housing and the shift fork for biasing the shift fork in a second direction that is substantially opposite the first direction.

The present invention is directed to a power transfer system for a four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with a torque transfer coupling which includes a clutch pack and a ball-screw actuator. The ball-screw actuator functions to axially translates an apply plate to operatively engage the clutch pack and vary the frictional engagement. This arrangement yields numerous operational advantages over the prior art including, but not limited to, establishing a direct drive between the motor output shaft and the apply plate, concentric mounting of the actuator elements with the motor output shaft, and a simplified mechanical arrangement that reduces the number of frictional elements increasing operational efficiency and decreasing motor requirements.
