A centralizer system is provided for use in a marine riser system, the centralizer being preferably heat-shrink fitted to an upset portion of a keel joint, the upset portion having tapered sections on the upper and lower ends that gradually blend into the outer diameter of the pipe used as the keel joint, the centralizer preferably comprising axially extending annular grooves in surrounding relationship to the upset portion, the grooves serving to permit forces acting on the centralizer to be redirected or dissipated to thereby prevent excessive buildup on a selected region of the upset portion adjacent the radial grooves.

Shrink for centralizer assembly and method

A centralizer system is provided for use in a marine riser system with an insulated pipe, which may be a titanium stress joint. The centralizer system utilizes one or more centralizers mounted such that insulation material is provided in an annulus between the one or more centralizers and the stress joint. A clamp is utilized to axially affix either one centralizer or multiple centralizers to the stress joint. The clamp is comprised of a plurality of sections with cylindrical interior surfaces which are tightened together using fasteners. The cylindrical interior surfaces avoid damage to the insulation layer which may be elastomeric. The clamp and each centralizer have radially directed projections thereon which interlock the clamp with each centralizer. Because the clamp is axially affixed, the centralizer is then also axially affixed. In one embodiment, the centralizer is axially moveable to a desired axial position prior to being interlocked to the tightened clamp.

Centralizer system for insulated pipe

A receptacleis removably secured to hullof an offshore structure, and supports an elongate member, which may be a riser string, extending downward to the sea bed or to another structure. The elongate memberincludes a tapered supporting surface, which may be provided on a tapered stress joint or flex joint. The receptacleincludes a mounting bracketsecured to the structure, and a basket housingwhich has a tapered interior surfacefor mating engagement with the exterior surface. According to the method, the mounting bracket is fixed to the structure, and the receptacle basket positioned about the elongate member and the assembly then positioned for being supported on the bracket. The supporting surface on the basket may be arranged for positioning the elongate member at a selected azimuth and declination relative to the offshore structure.

Receptable assembly and method for use on an offshore structure

A receptacle is removably secured to hull of an offshore structure , and supports an elongate member , which may be a riser string, extending downward to the sea bed or to another structure. The elongate member includes a tapered supporting surface , which may be provided on a tapered stress joint or flex joint . The receptacle includes a mounting bracket secured to the structure , and a basket housing which has a tapered interior surface for mating engagement with the exterior surface . According to the method, the mounting bracket is fixed to the structure, and the receptacle basket positioned about the elongate member and the assembly then positioned for being supported on the bracket. The supporting surface on the basket may be arranged for positioning the elongate member at a selected azimuth and declination relative to the offshore structure.

Receptacle assembly and method for use on an offshore structure

A mounting system for supporting elongate, metallic structural members used in offshore applications and subject to dynamic forces comprising a support assembly having a socket that at least partially encircles the structural member, an attachment for securing the support assembly to a positioned structure, such as an offshore platform, and a sleeve received in the socket, the sleeve being disposed in surrounding relationship to the structural member and comprising an electrically nonconductive, fiber-reinforced polymer composite.
