Physical context management for a motor vehicle

A method and apparatus for service level recognition and registration processing in a wireless communication device are provided. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided for transitioning between service modes and indicating a current service mode to a user of a wireless communication device. The status of a signal associated with a forward channel from a messaging system to the wireless communication device is determined. A quality metric is determined based upon the status over a predetermined period of time. Three service modes, including a full service mode, a basic service mode, and a storing service mode are provided. In the storing service mode, after determining the quality metric is better than a first predetermined threshold a transition is made to the basic service mode. In the basic service mode, after verification of a reverse channel from the wireless communication device to the messaging system a transition is made to the full service mode. In the full service mode if the reverse channel becomes degraded, then a transition is made to the basic service mode. The current service mode is indicated to the user. According to another aspect of the present invention, a wireless communication device performs registration processing based upon the current service mode of the wireless communication device. Three service modes are recognized, including: a storing service mode in which new messages destined for the wireless communication device are not received by the wireless communication device; a basic service mode in which new messages destined for the wireless communication device are received by the wireless communication device, and a full service mode in which both new messages and stored messages are received by the wireless communication device. A registration process determines what action to take based upon the current service mode.

Service level indication and registration processing in a wireless communication device

A method and apparatus for automating validation and verification of computer software that confirms during a test execution of the software that all lines of code are executed and all branches in the software are taken or not taken at least once. The computer software to be tested is compiled and a link map is generated. After compilation of the code, it is run in a test fixture to test all the required functions. During this test execution, a monitoring process is performed which documents which lines of code have been executed and whether certain branches of the code were either taken or not taken. An execution record is generated which indicates what instruction branches were taken and were not taken. A comparison is then made between the link map originally generated and the instruction record generated to determine what lines of code were executed, whether each branch was taken at least once, and whether a branch was not taken at least once.

Automated validation and verification of computer software

A mission planning costing surface is formed from digital terrain elevation data of a given geographical region and is for use in routing covert flight paths. To form the costing surface, a hideability map is generated from the digital terrain elevation data by assigning line of sight area values to points within the digital terrain elevation data. The hideability map is indicative of hideable areas within the geographical region. The hideability map is then quantized by assigning each of the line of sight area values to one of a set number of quantization levels. A flyability map is formed from the digital terrain elevation data by determining slopeness values for points within the digital terrain elevation data. The flyability map is indicative of flyable areas of the geographical region. The flyability map is quantized by assigning each of the slopeness values to one of the quantization levels. The costing surface is formed from a weighted combination of the quantized hideability map and the quantized flyability map.
