In accordance with one embodiment a self-erasing printing system comprises a substrate such as paper, a printer, a printer driver, and self-erasing ink. The self-erasing ink can comprise an acid-base indicator and a base whereby the ink is colored when printed but erases itself after a predetermined period of time. After the ink has self-erased the substrate may be reused.

Self-erasing printing system

A cutting balloon for use in a PTCA atherectomy procedure includes an elongated balloon that defines a longitudinal axis and is inflatable from a first deflated configuration to a second radially expanded configuration. One or more incising elements are mounted on the inflatable balloon. Compressible sheaths made of a relatively low durometer, flexible material are mounted on the balloon to protect the operative cutting surface of a respective incising element during assembly of the cutting balloon and transit of the cutting balloon to the treatment site. Each sheath extends farther from the longitudinal axis than the corresponding incising element and makes first contact with the tissue during a balloon inflation. Once contact has been established between the tissue and the sheath, further balloon inflation causes the sheath to radially compress between the tissue and the inflatable balloon exposing the operative cutting surface for tissue incision.

A delivery system for endoluminal deployment of a stent inside of a biocompatible graft cover minimizes obstruction of endoluminal fluid flow during deployment. The delivery system includes a stent sheath, a compressed stent underlying the stent sheath, and a graft overlying the stent sheath and releasably retained in a compressed state surrounding the sheath. The graft distal end is attached to the stent at or proximal the stent distal end, and the graft outer surface is exposed to the interior space of the lumen during deployment. The proximal end of the graft may be attached to the stent sheath by a releasable attachment adapted for release during deployment of the stent, or may be otherwise constrained, such as by heat deformation, to remain adjacent the outer circumference of the stent prior to deployment. The releasable attachment may be a suture that is severed by a pusher having a cutter therein. The delivery system may further include an inner core underlying the stent and connected to a tip sheath that overlies the stent distal end. One method of deploying the stent and overlying graft includes advancing the tip sheath to allow the stent distal end to expand, retracting the stent sheath to cause the suture to be severed by the pusher cutter therefore allowing endoluminal fluid to flow between the graft and the sheath, and then completing deployment of the stent to urge the graft against the lumen wall.

Low profile delivery system for stent and graft deployment

A microsurgical balloon, with at least one incising component mounted to the surface of the balloon, includes a protective pad to prevent the outer surface of the incising component from coming into contact with and damaging the balloon surface. In particular, the protective pad is positioned on the outer surface of the balloon substantially parallel to and juxtaposed with the incising component. When the balloon is in a deflated configuration, either for insertion into the vasculature system or removal from the patient, the protective pad engages the outer surface of the incising component thereby protecting the balloon from being punctured or damaged by the incising component. The protective pad may be bonded to the outer surface of the balloon, or it may be an integral part of a homogeneous balloon structure.

A multi-sheath delivery catheter and method for introducing a prosthesis into a body lumen involving use of (a) an outer sheath adapted to contain a portion of the prosthesis and having an inner surface with a non-round cross-section; (b) a middle sheath slideably disposed at least partly within the outer sheath and adapted to contain another portion of the prosthesis, the middle sheath having a distal end with a first handle attached to it that has a non-round cross-section corresponding to and engaging the non-round cross-section of the inner surface of the outer sheath; and (c) a pusher slideably disposed at least partly within the middle sheath and adapted to engage the prosthesis, relative rotational movement between the outer sheath and the middle sheath is prevented by virtue of the engagement of the non-round cross-section of the first handle with the non-round cross-section of the inner surface of the outer sheath. The delivery catheter has a mechanism for sequentially retracting concentric tubes to deploy the prosthesis.

A catheter includes a distal end, a proximal end, an outer tube extending from the distal end to the proximal end, and an inner tube extending through the outer tube. The distal end including a corrugated section attached to an end of the inner tube and an asymmetric balloon attached to the outer tube and configured to deflect the distal end of the catheter.

Deflecting catheter

A multi-component intraluminal prosthesis is adapted for insertion into and in vivo assembly within a body lumen to repair the lumen, the components including secure and/or fluid-tight mating sections. The prosthesis comprises a female mating member comprising a main body portion, a funnel-shaped end, and a sealing segment connecting the main body portion to the funnel-shaped end; and a male mating member adapted for in vivo assembly with the sealing segment of the female mating member. The sealing segment may be essentially cylindrical or it may taper with decreasing diameter from the main body to the funnel-shaped end. The sealing segment and adjacent funnel-shaped end may together form an hourglass-shaped end. A biocompatible graft material may cover the inner surface of the funnel-shaped end. To secure a fluid-tight seal, the outer surface of the male member and the inner surface of the female member are covered with a biocompatible graft material in their respective mating segments. The prosthesis may form a bifurcated intraluminal prosthesis adapted, for example, for deployment in the infra-renal aorta and the iliac arteries, where the main body component forms the main aortic body, the integral first leg member forms the first iliac segment, and the second leg member forms the second iliac segment.

In another aspect, the invention provides a delivery catheter having a mechanism for sequentially retracting concentric tubes to deploy the prosthesis. In another aspect, the invention provides a mechanism for preventing relative axial movement of concentric tubes.
