A flow battery comprising: a first tank having a variable internal volume and containing a first ionic solution having a first oxidation state, and wherein the first tank is substantially evacuated of any gas; a second tank having a variable internal volume and containing a second ionic solution having a second oxidation state that is different from the first oxidation state, and wherein the second tank is substantially evacuated of any gas; a reaction chamber operatively coupled with the first and second tanks such that the first ionic solution within the reaction chamber is separated from the second ionic solution by an ion exchange membrane; a first pump configured to pump the first ionic solution through the reaction chamber; and a second pump configured to pump the second ionic solution through the reaction chamber.

Pressure-compensated flow battery for submerged use

A self-adjusting band that includes one or more banding segments, one or more buckling assemblies, a pair of one pin and two links for each buckle assembly, a rotary joint base for each pair of one pin and two links, and a high-load, low-deflection compression spring for each section of the buckle assembly.

Self-adjusting band

A valve for delivery of fluid between two chambers. The valve includes a plug, force spring that opens the plug, and a base that joins/mates with the inner surface of a chamber. Plug sealing mechanisms seal the plug to the base. Chamber sealing mechanisms seal an inner surface of a chamber bore or conduit. The valve also includes a trigger arm that holds the plug down until the trigger arm is actuated to cause the plug to move and the valve to open. The valve also includes a remotely-actuatable trigger for releasing the trigger arm. A channel permits the transfer of fluid from one side of the plug to the other.

Low-profile, large-aperture, remotely-triggered valve

A cooling apparatus for an underwater platform comprising: an evaporator block fabricated from a thermally conductive material and having a first surface that is shaped so as to releasably mate to an exterior surface contour of the underwater platform; a heat pipe having a working fluid sealed therein, wherein the heat pipe has a first end and a second end, and wherein the first end is in thermal communication with the evaporator block; a condenser block in thermal communication with the second end of the heat pipe; and a plurality of spring clamps mounted to the evaporator block and configured to bias the first surface of the evaporator block against the exterior surface of the underwater platform such that heat from the exterior surface of the underwater platform is transferred to the ambient water via the evaporator block, heat pipe, and condenser block.

Underwater remote cooling apparatus

A pressure-compensated rupture disk assembly and method for subsea protection of a pressure vessel. The assembly and method incorporate a piston device, a dynamic piston seal configured to move the piston device when a predetermined pressure is reached; and a rupture disk adjacent the piston device, the rupture disk having a first pressure on a piston side and a second pressure on a second side, the rupture disk being configured to open when a predetermined pressure is exceeded.
