A multiple conductor cable connector (1) is disclosed including a metallic clip (4) which latches a termination cover (5) and a housing (2). A projecting tab (18), a latch (20) and concave inner surfaces of the clip (4) grasp a handle (14) of the termination cover (5) to secure it to the clip (4). The termination cover (5) is recessed (15) to allow the clip tab (18) to fit flush with a rear surface (13) of the termination cover (5). Convex outer surfaces of sleeves (19) of the clip (4) cooperate with concave inner surfaces of channels (8) of opposed paired towers (7) on the housing (2) to guide the termination cover (5) towards the housing (2). Use of the clip (4) within the channels (8) provides a rigid structure for the connector (1), unaffected by normal handling. Inner surfaces of the channels (8) have protrusions ( 9) which cooperate with leading edges on the clip (4) to define a stop, and a cutout protrusion (24) on the clip (4) cooperates with a recess (10) and shoulder in the channel (8) inner surface; together these features define a pretermination position. A separate protrusion (11) on the housing (2) body cooperates with a separate recess (22) on the clip (4) to define a termination position and to latch the termination cover (5) to the housing (2).

Multiple conductor cable connector with clip and towers

A coaxial right-angle plug connector includes a 'clean' right-angle inner contact member having a continuous insulative cover molded therearound including the bend to be self-retaining thereon and to have consistently concentric coaxial outer surfaces, with larger diameter cover portions around the portion within the conductive housing. The front horizontal contact portion and the outer contact therearound mate with contact means of conventional receptacle connectors, while the vertical portion of the inner contact descends from the housing near the front thereof reducing the length of the signal path and lessening reflection. The housed portion of the connector raises the average impedance over the length of the connector to approximate that of the cable used in the signal path of the coaxial patchboard programming system, by reason of large diameter cover portions of the inner contact adjacent the bend, while allowing floating of the insulated inner contact to adapt to a slightly misaligned printed circuit board hole.

Right-angle coaxial plug connector

An inner rectangular housing insertable into a cavity of an outer rectangular housing has latching projections on sidewalls near the bottom to latch into latching recesses on inside surfaces of the sidewalls of the outer housing near the cavity entrance. Endwalls of the inner housing have stress ledges near the bottom to deflect outwardly the endwalls of the outer housing to generate permanent tension which is transferred by integral wall corners to the sidewalls of the outer housing to urge them inwardly to maintain the latched condition of the projections and recesses. Such latching and tensioning is useful in the type of electrical switch assemblies whose housings are under long-term stress, vibration and/or heat even when bonded and sealed.

An operating mechanism for a plugboard system to connect and disconnect electrical terminals of a front bay with respective electrical terminals of a rear bay comprises hanger plates and sliding cam plates mounted on a rear frame, the cam plates having profiled cam slots and L-shaped slots therein. An operating member is pivotally mounted into the rear frame and includes rollers which are disposed in the L-shaped slots so that when the operating member is moved from one position to another position, the rollers move along the L-shaped slots causing the cam plates to move along the rear frame which causes the cam slots to linearly move support members on a front frame thereby connecting or disconnecting the electrical terminals.
