A apparatus for mounting an interposer PCA into a chassis is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a bracket attached to the PCA. A geared handle is rotatably attached to one end of the bracket. The geared handle is configured to rotate between an open position and a closed position. Two geared segments are rotatably attached to the opposite end of the bracket and are meshed with the geared handle. A slot is formed in each geared segment and two slots are formed in the geared handle. The slots engage with insertion/ejection flanges on the chassis. The engaged slots force the PCA down into mating connectors in the chassis when the handle is rotated from the open position to the closed position.

A method of filling ink into a dual chamber ink-jet cartridge for use with an ink-jet printer includes applying a vacuum to the cartridge through a fill hole of the cartridge to substantially eliminate air within an ink absorbing member of the cartridge. The fill hole is sealed and then ink is pressure filled into the cartridge through the fill hole. A vacuum is again applied to the cartridge to substantially eliminate any residual air in the cartridge due to the pressure filling of the ink. The fill hole may be positioned over a free ink chamber or over the ink absorbing member of the cartridge. The vacuum includes applying a negative pressure of about 27.5 in/Hg. The negative pressure is applied at a cycle rate of 5-30 seconds.

A cassette for ribbon for a printer, particularly a thermal printer, is disclosed. The cassette is configured to be stably mounted to a print carriage of a thermal printer, or to a storage turret mounted to the printer for storing a number of cassettes, and to be transferred by a passive transfer system between the print carriage and the storage turret simply in response to movement of the print carriage. A smooth, low friction path is provided for the ribbon within the cassette with no acute angle changes in the path when the cassette is in a printing position and being acted upon by the printer's print head. The cassette is provided with a brake mechanism which automatically engages the supply and take-up reels in the cassette when the cassette is removed from the print carriage, and automatically disengages the brake mechanism when the cassette is mounted to the print carriage. The cassette is provided with a bar code so that cassettes on the storage turret may automatically be identified, particularly for use in an automatic cassette transfer system. The cassette housing is plastic and is provided with an anti-static additive.

A file box for video cassettes comprising a box, the box having a bottom panel, a rear wall panel, a top panel, a left side end cap, and a right side end cap, and a foam liner for covering inside surfaces of the top, bottom and rear panels. A door panel may be included for closing the opening in the front of the file box, and a latch for latching the door flap to the top panel and for closing the box. The foam liner has fingers which form individual compartments for holding the video cassettes firmly and resiliently in place.

A ribbon cartridge comprises a housing having a bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly therefrom to form an open top, a cover adapted to fit over the open top of the housing to close the housing to form a ribbon cartridge, an output arm and a take-up arm formed in the cartridge with a print space between the arms, the cartridge being adapted to hold a ribbon stuffed inside and extending between the arms from the output arm to the take-up arm, flexible fingers which are spaced apart from each other and attached at their base portions to the housing, with each finger being positioned in a finger opening in the bottom wall of the housing, whereby when an end tab of a finger meets resistance from a top wall of a correction cartridge, the finger is pushed into the interior of the housing, and when an end tab of a finger does not meet such resistance, it actuates the typewriter switch to actuate the typewriter. The method includes providing the ribbon cartridge, inserting it into a typewriter, inserting a correction tape cartridge into the typewriter, passing one of the fingers through a passage in the correction cartridge to contact the switch of the typewriter and actuate the typewriter, and blocking the other finger with the top surface of the correction tape cartridge and pushing the other finger back through its finger opening into the interior of the ribbon cartridge.
