The present invention is directed to providing a charge-coupled device which can provide accurate signal detection while providing high speed electronic exposure control or shuttering. Exemplary embodiments can maintain charge transfer efficiency at a relatively high level even if a pixel array of the charge-coupled device is clocked rapidly (i.e., exposure control or shuttering speed is increased) for a given pixel pitch.

Split pixel interline transfer imaging device

In exemplary embodiments, a diffraction grating is placed in the beam path of the generated light source. The grating expands the beam's field of view by distributing the transmitted radiation into plural sub-fields. Sub-fields associated with distant objects are set to a greater intensity to ensure reflection of the sub-fields back to the receiver. Sub-fields directed to closer objects have a lesser intensity to avoid detection of false objects.

Systems and methods for object detection using beam widening optics

A method of copying a thick hologram, recorded at wavelength .lambda..sub.1, so that the copy can be efficiently read out with a beam .lambda..sub.3 at the same incident angle as used to efficiently read out the original. The method involves copying the hologram using wavelength .lambda..sub.2 at a predetermined incident angle, which incident angle provides fringe angles in the copy to yield maximum diffraction efficiency of the read-out beam .lambda..sub.3.
