An accessory tool is configured to be coupled to a power tool having a tool drive structure. The accessory tool includes a spring component and has a first arm and a second arm attached to the spring component. The first arm includes (i) a first proximal end portion defining a first accessory drive structure that is configured to mate with a first portion of the tool drive structure, and (ii) a first distal end portion having a first holding structure. The second arm is spaced apart from the first arm and includes (i) a second proximal end portion defining a second accessory drive structure that is configured to mate with a second portion of the tool drive structure, and (ii) a second distal end portion having a second holding structure.

A router table comprises a table top, a bit mount, and a drive train. The bit mount is configured to hold a router bit such that the router bit extends from the table top defining a bit axis. The drive train is positioned under the table top and is operably connected between the bit mount and a drive coupling. The drive coupling is configured to engage a driven member, with the drive coupling defining a drive axis that is not coaxial with the bit axis. The driven member may be provided by a drive bit on a portable router secured to the table top. Operation of the portable router results in rotation of the driven member. Rotation of the driven member and associated drive coupling operates the drive train and results in rotation of the bit mount and associated router bit.

A hand power tool has a housing and a cutting tool bit, as well as a guard, which embraces the tool bit and is coupleable to the housing and axially adjustable relative to it, wherein the housing and the guard means, in a first adjusting position, are positionable axially freely and in a second adjusting position, guided by an adjusting element are positionable axially finely and lockably to one another, wherein the adjusting element is configured to prevent free axial displacement of the guard in the second adjusting position.

A plunge base router for use in an upright and an inverted position is disclosed. The router includes a depth adjustment mechanism, a depth stop mechanism, a post lock mechanism, and a return spring defeat mechanism. The depth adjustment mechanism includes a course adjustment mechanism and a fine adjustment mechanism to set the cutting distance of a bit. The course and fine adjustment mechanisms are usable in both the upright and inverted positions and the fine adjustment mechanism is operable without being reset throughout the full range of motion of the plunge router. The depth stop includes a mechanism for locking the end of a rod on the housing to the base in order to set the relative position in between the housing and the base. The depth stop also includes a plurality of steps for engaging the rod and permitting incremental passes of cutting at different depths with the router. The post lock mechanism includes a lever for locking the housing to the guide posts in a relative position relative to the base, and the lever is normally biased to the lock position. The lever includes a latch for locking the lever in the open positions so that the plunger can be easily mounted in an inverted position under a worktable without the need to hold down the lever in order to permit relative movement between the housing and the base. The return spring defeat mechanism defeats the return spring that biases the housing away from the base so that it is easier to mount the plunge router in an inverted position on the underside of a worktable.

Plunge base router

A plunge base router for use in an upright and an inverted position is disclosed. The router includes a depth adjustment mechanism, a depth stop mechanism, a post lock mechanism, and a return spring defeat mechanism. The depth adjustment mechanism includes a coarse adjustment mechanism and a fine adjustment mechanism to set the cutting distance of a bit. The course and fine adjustment mechanisms are usable in both the upright and inverted positions and the fine adjustment mechanism is operable without being reset throughout the full range of motion of the plunge router. The depth stop includes a mechanism for locking the end of a rod on the housing to the base in order to set the relative position in between the housing and the base. The depth stop also includes a plurality of steps for engaging the rod and permitting incremental passes of cutting at different depths with the router. The post lock mechanism includes a lever for locking the housing to the guide posts in a relative position relative to the base, and the lever is normally biased to the lock position. The lever includes a latch for locking the lever in the open positions so that the plunger can be easily mounted in an inverted position under a worktable without the need to hold down the lever in order to permit relative movement between the housing and the base. The return spring defeat mechanism defeats the return spring that biases the housing away from the base so that it is easier to mount the plunge router in an inverted position on the underside of a worktable.

A plunge-type router is disclosed which has a base and a head assembly that is vertically adjustable by an adjusting mechanism. The plunge router includes an electronic control system with a digital display and control functionality that enables the router to accurately determine a baseline or zero position for a router bit installed in the router and permits the user to input a depth of cut value or other predetermined command. The control system then automatically causes the motorized adjusting mechanism to go to the appropriate position. The electronic control system enables the storage of multiple depth settings as well as multiple step or macro operations. In this regard, macros may be run to provide incremental cutting necessary for performing multiple passes to achieve a relatively deep depth of cut.

Plunge router having electronic depth adjustment

A simple and quick manner for centering a sub-base of a fixed-base router. The sub-base is provided with two sets of peripheral holes and a large central opening. One set of holes is countersunk and receives flat-head screws; the other set of holes is counterbored and receives pan-head screws. The router is sent from the factory with the sub-base attached by the flat-head screws. To center the sub-base the flat-head screws are removed and the pan-head screws are inserted to loosely mount the sub-base. The counterbored openings are oversized to allow lateral movement of the sub-base. A cone element is installed in the collet and engaged with the sub-base through the central opening. The cone element fully abuts the opening to center the sub-base, the pan-head screws are tightened and the cone element is replaced by a router bit.
