The subject application is directed to managing electronic documents in associated data storage areas. User identification is received and indicia of data storage areas is displayed. Storage selection is received from the user to store incoming electronic documents. A storage area is then designated in accordance with the received selection and identification data. A shadow data storage area associated with the designated area is created and an access code associated with the designated area is determined. An input of incoming document systems is associated with the shadow area based upon the selection data. Documents are received, in their native formats, from the systems into the shadow storage area. The access code is then associated with each incoming document in the shadow data storage area. A log of history for each document is generated. The documents and logs are routed into the designated area from the shadow area.

Document management system for transferring a plurality of documents

This invention is related to document management systems, and more particularly, to a document management system to automate transferring a plurality of documents or related data. The present invention is directed to a method and system for capturing electronic documents to a preselected data storage area comprising the steps of and means adapted for selecting a data storage area adapted for storage of electronic documents; and receiving, into the selected data storage area, electronic data representative of a plurality of electronic documents from at least one of a plurality of associated document systems.

A system and method for automated selection of a wireless document processing device. Data representing a plurality of available document processing devices is first generated on a wireless data processing device. The wireless data connection is then detected between a portable data device and an associated access point, wherein the access point is associated with at least one of the available document processing devices. System and method for automatic wireless detection and identification of document processing service location

A method and implementation is disclosed for messaging between components, preferably the controllers of peripheral devices in a network. The method and implementation includes providing a message from a first process and appending to the message a code indicating at least one descriptive parameter of the message. Steps and implementations are included for transmitting the message to a second process and interpreting the code so as to enable computation of the message by the second process across a plurality of different controller platforms.
