A liquid level transducer for a tank, such as a railroad tank car or the like, includes a mounting head connected to the tank and a sensor assembly extending into the tank from the mounting head. The sensor assembly includes a sensor tube located in the tank and a gauging rod assembly positioned in the sensor tube. The gauging rod assembly can be pulled out of the tank until it magnetically couples with a magnetic float that surrounds the sensor tube. The float moves in response to a change in liquid level and the magnetic coupling provides the user with a visual indication of the liquid level. A sensor board extends along a length of the gauging rod assembly and is responsive to movement of the float for electronically determining the liquid level without the need to magnetically couple the gauging rod assembly to the float.

Dual measurement liquid level transducer

A capacitive sensor assembly for detecting relative movement or position between objects, such as liquid level in a tank or reservoir, movement of one machine component with respect to another, and so on, includes one or more antenna probes connected to an integrated chip normally associated with touch-screen displays. Each antenna probe operates independently and may be formed as insulated conductive wires or conductive traces between layers of a stiff or flexible substrate, such as a PCB, with the substrate material serving as the insulating layers. Each antenna probe has a different length representing different measurement positions or locations between the objects being measured to provide dynamic calibration of the measurement under changing environmental conditions.

Capacitive sensor assembly for determining relative position

A dial assembly with magnetic calibration feature adapted for use as part of a gauge assembly for measuring fluid levels in cryogenic applications is disclosed. The dial assembly includes a base, a pivot pin extending from the base, a pointer assembly pivotally mounted on the pivot pin, and a calibration magnet with adjustment feature. The pointer assembly includes a pointer coupled with a pointer magnet. The calibration magnet with adjustment feature is magnetically coupled to the pointer magnet and adapted to adjust a position of the pointer magnet and therefore the pointer relative to volume indicia on a dial face of the dial assembly. In operation, a movement of the calibration magnet induces a movement in the pointer magnet. The adjustment feature is coupled to the calibration magnet such that it is manipulatable even when the dial assembly is mounted on a gauge head of a gauge assembly installed on a vessel. Further, the dial assembly preferably also includes a pivot pin adjustment feature for repositioning the pointer assembly relative to the dial face.

Fluid level indicator dial assembly with magnetic calibration feature

A float-type liquid level gauge assembly is provided for measuring the level of a liquid in a tank. The liquid level gauge includes a gear housing for efficiently coupling the gears and accurately assembling and aligning certain components; a movable pivot arm assembly supporting a float arm assembly; and a gear on the pivot arm assembly coupled with a pinion gear located in the gear housing. The pinion gear has a shaped passageway which accepts a similarly shaped drive shaft. A single piece magnetic cap, which defines a bore correspondingly shaped to accept the shaped drive shaft such that it will not rotate relative to the drive shaft, is installed on the drive shaft. The drive shaft and the magnetic cap each include a positioning feature, such that when the positioning feature of the drive shaft engages the positioning feature of the magnetic cap, the magnetic cap is properly aligned with a magnet in a dial assembly. A float arm with an attached float assembly can be adapted to act as both the float arm and the counterweight for counter-balancing the float assembly.

An action-responsive basketball backboard includes a backboard having a rim mounted thereon. Mounted thereon are a rim motion sensor operative to detect specific motions of the rim and output notification signals signaling detection of those specific motions, and a backboard motion sensor operative to detect specific motions of the backboard and output notification signals signaling detection of those specific motions. At least one set of indicator lights is mounted on the backboard and a power supply for supplying electrical power to the set of indicator lights is connected thereto for lighting the lights. A control box having a controllable switch interposed between the power supply and the set of indicator lights is included, the control box in information transmission connection with the rim motion sensor and the backboard motion sensor, the control box operative to receive notification signals from the rim and backboard motion sensors.

Action-responsive basketball backboard

Use is made of thermoplastic materials in layered configurations as a thermally stable, rigid but not brittle strip of lengths of six inches to ten feet or more. The layered strip contains layers of conductive fibers in a resin matrix, which, through use of appropriate contact mechanisms and wiring, provide an assembly with an infinite potentiometer scale. The strips are especially useful in linear positioning indicators such as pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder and liquid level gauges. The strips are conductively connected by cutting a bias surface relative to said strips and placing resin thereon.

Use is made of thermoplastic materials in layered configurations as a thermally stable, rigid but not brittle strip of lengths of six inches to ten feet or more. The layered strip contains layers of conductive fibers in a resin matrix, which, through use of appropriate contact mechanisms and wiring, provide an assembly with an infinite potentiometer scale. The strips are especially useful in linear positioning indicators such as pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder and liquid level gauges.

Ad adjustable gauge 10 is disclosed for use in indicating the level of LP gas in a tank within a range of tank diameters, for example between thirty and forty-one inches. A significant advantage of the LP gas gauge 10 is that a single gauge can be easily adapted for use in a tank of diameter within the pre-selected range by simply removing a length of portion 44 of the float rod roughly equal to the difference in the diameter of the maximum tank for which the gauge is adapted and the actual diameter of the tank in which the tank is entitled.

Adjustable LPG gauge

A circular temperature gauge includes tubing which encloses a temperature sensor and a housing which encloses a needle connected to the sensor and a dial connected to the housing. The housing is secured with respect to the tubing such that the housing can be rotated to calibrate the indicator needle with respect to the dial. A slip bezel is mounted on the periphery of the circular housing. The force required to rotate the bezel with respect to the housing is less than the force required to rotate the housing with respect to the tubing. This prevents a worker who is in the process of installing the gauge from inadvertently rotating the housing with respect to the tubing and substantially miscalibrating the gauge.

This invention relates to a self-adjusting spacer mechanism for being interposed in a centrifugal pump between a volute and a barrel end surface for regulating the spacing therebetween. The spacer includes a first inclined surface and an outer surface coupled with an inside surface of the barrel cover. A second sliding plate has an outer surface coupled with an end surface of the volute and a second inclined surface generally parallel to and in sliding communication with the first inclined surface of the first sliding plate. A bias spring is coupled between the first and second sliding plate for advancing the sliding communication therebetween in a preferred direction for increasing the separation between the outside surfaces responsive to a separation between the volute and the barrel end surface. In a first preferred embodiment of the present invention a triggering device is coupled between the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate for restricting the motion therebetween until the triggering device is actuated. Also, a unidirectional clutch is coupled between the first and second sliding plates for limiting the motion therebetween to the preferred direction.
