A polyether polyurethane/benzoin skin protectant is described which further includes a fast drying solvent. The skin protectant may optionally include a germicidal agent and/or a dye for better visualization of the protectant on the skin. The skin protectant provides a dry film that is elastic, vapor permeable, water proof, dirt proof, insect proof, aerobic bacteriostatic, and adheres well under environmental conditions. Apparent application viscosity can be adjusted as required for specific needs.

Method and composition for coating wound or protecting animal skin

Solutions of polyether polyurethane with benzoin gum in tetrahydrafuran applied to animal skin provide dry films that are elastic, vapor permeable, water proof, dirt proof, insect proof, aerobic bacteriostatic and adhere well under environmental conditions. Apparent application viscosity can be adjusted as required for specific needs.

A method of increasing slip or reducing coefficient of friction to protective coatings for skin to reduce damage to exposed skin tissue is provided by adding inert powder with low coefficient of friction to tincture or solution suitable for skin application. Tincture of benzoin and polyethylene powder comprise a rapidly drying coating or protectant composition with the above skin adhesive properties.

Liquid skin coating or protectant

A composition and a method for coating a wound is described. The composition consists of a mixture of 20 parts by weight of polyether polyurethane resin pellets being dissolved in about 80 parts by weight of tetrahydrofuran thereafter mixing the solution in order to provide complete mixing in an air tight container. The composition then being applied to a wound to form a tough but elastic wound coating to promote healing of animal tissue.
