A main feed thru unit configured as a service equipment or a main service disconnect is provided for distributing power in modular metering mains. The main feed thru unit comprises an enclosure having a back side, a first side, a second side, a top side and a bottom side and a bus assembly. The bus assembly includes a feed thru bus assembly including a plurality of feed thru bus bars configured to receive line power at feed line terminals and pass thru power to feed thru terminals, a cross bus assembly including a plurality of cross bus bars extending between the first side and the second side and a main breaker coupled between the feed line terminals and the plurality of cross bus bars to feed power thru and output power via the plurality of cross bus bars. The enclosure is configured to allow electrical connection to the plurality of cross bus bars through an opening in at least one of the first side and the second side.

An expandable bused elbow is provided for connecting modular metering equipment around an inside corner. The expandable bused elbow comprises an enclosure configured to fit in a gap between modular equipment. The enclosure has a box assembly with a sliding mechanism that enables expansion of the box assembly. The expandable bused elbow further comprises a first bussed interior assembly enclosed within the enclosure having a first bottom end and a second bussed interior assembly enclosed within the enclosure having a second bottom end. The first bussed interior assembly has a first bussing expansion mechanism that enables expansion of the first bussed interior assembly. The second bussed interior assembly has a second bussing expansion mechanism that enables expansion of the second bussed interior assembly. The expandable bused elbow further comprises a center corner assembly disposed in a middle space between the first bussed interior assembly and the second bussed interior assembly.

An expandable bused spacer is provided for installing modular metering equipment such as in an electrical room of a high rise building. The expandable bused spacer comprises an enclosure configured to fit in a gap between modular equipment and a bussed interior assembly enclosed within the enclosure. The enclosure has a box assembly with a sliding mechanism that enables expansion of the box assembly. The bussed interior assembly has a bussing expansion mechanism that enables expansion of the bussed interior assembly. A meter socket is provided for watt-hour meters. The meter socket comprises a block assembly mounted at a center of the meter socket, a bypass mechanism situated in the bottom portion of the block assembly and a plurality of clamp jaws. The block assembly includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The bypass mechanism includes a plurality of rotary bypass blades coupled to a lever arm. Each clamp jaw includes a clamp jaw assembly that includes a jigsaw mechanism situated in the top portion of the block assembly. The jigsaw mechanism includes a copper jaw bus, a contact plate, a jaw spring, a bypass spring, a compression spring, a shoulder screw, a rivet or one or more fasteners. Each clamp jaw further includes a clamp jaw bypass mechanism that includes a jaw opening formed between the copper jaw bus and the jaw spring to receive a rotary bypass blade of the plurality of rotary bypass blades of the bypass mechanism.

The terminal barrier includes a first barrier portion including a first opening portion, and a second barrier portion including a second opening portion. The first opening portion and second opening portion interface with one another to form a shielding aperture configured for shielding around one or more line wires extending from the one or more terminals. The meter stack apparatus includes an enclosure having a first and second side, a meter section including a stack of meter sockets configured to accept utility meters, a cross bus connection section including cross bus bars adapted to provide modular connection to other components, a pull-out fusible switch contained within the enclosure, riser bus bars coupled to a load side of the fusible switch and to a line side of the stack of meter sockets, and connect bus bars coupled to a line side of the fusible switch and to the cross bus bars. A parallel electric service system including a combination load center is disclosed. More particularly, the parallel electric service system encompasses a combination load center adapted to receive power from a utility power source and a parallel power source such as a solar module, wind turbine, fuel cell, or the like. Power may be supplied to electrical loads of branches of the system by the utility power source, parallel power source, or both. The system also provides electrical usage metering and allows electrical power to flow back to the grid. Methods of connecting parallel power sources in the parallel electric service system are provided, as are other aspects.

A base pan assembly for connecting to conductors and an electrical device. The base pan assembly includes a base pan element having walls for isolating each conductor. The base pan assembly also includes a stab element associated with each conductor wherein the stab element includes first and second portions formed in a substantially L shaped configuration. The first portion is adapted to be connected to the electrical device and the second portion is fastened to the base pan element. An end of the second portion is positioned between a pair of ribs. A fastening element is associated with each stab element, wherein the fastening element includes a post extending from the base pan element which is received by an aperture in the second portion. Further, the base pan assembly includes a lug associated with each conductor, wherein the lug receives the second portion and the associated conductor.

A field rephaseable metering device is provided including at least three distribution buses including two side buses and a center bus, the center bus having a vertical center line. At least one meter socket is provided having a vertical center line offset from the vertical center line of said center bus, each meter socket including a first line terminal and a second line terminal. At least two line straps are provided, each having a first end configured for connecting with one of the first or second line terminals, and a second elongate end configured to be selectively connectable to one of the side buses associated with its line terminal or the center bus. When each line strap is positioned to connect one of the line terminals with one of the distribution buses, a longitudinal axis of each line strap is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of each distribution bus.

A spring-loaded captive fastener retainer provides a user-friendly system to mechanically fasten units (e.g. panels, cabinets, etc.) to other units. Generally, the retainer is spring-loaded to force a fastener to extend beyond the unit. The retainer has a housing that provides guidance to the fastener so that it is secured within the unit and travels in a predictable path.

The present invention relates generally to a load center. More particularly, the invention encompasses a generator ready load center (GRLC). The present invention is also directed to a novel generator ready load center (GRLC) that operates as a standard load center but is ready to accommodate an automatic transfer switch (ATS) for a standby generator, or a manual transfer switch (MTS) for a portable generator. Further the generator ready load center provides an automatic and manual transfer between primary and secondary power sources. The generator ready load center solves the problem of dangerous back-feeding between the primary power source and the secondary power source.
