Methods, systems, and computer-readable media with executable instructions stored thereon are provided for applying server profile templates. A method includes providing a user interface (UI) to define a template. The template includes a template identifier, a common configuration, and a list of server profiles which share the common configuration. The method further includes using the UI to create a number of server profiles. The template is applied to server profiles such that changes to the common configuration are replicated across all associated server profiles, including associated server profiles with different physical connections.

Migration of profiles between virtual connect domains is described. In an example, a plurality of validations are performed on a profile from a first virtual connect domain virtualizing devices using a first configuration. The profile is updated based on a second virtual connect domain virtualizing devices using a second configuration. The profile is moved for use by a device in the second virtual connect domain.

A system comprises a first enclosure comprising a plurality of device bays and a first enclosure virtual connect device that is configured to virtualize one or more of the device bays in the first enclosure. The system also comprises a second enclosure comprising a plurality of device bays and a management server communicatively coupled to the first enclosure virtual connect device. At least one bay in the first enclosure has a device included therein. That device uses an associated profile that defines, at least in part, how that device is virtualized. The management server is configured to migrate the profile for use by a device in a bay of the second enclosure.
