A method may include modulating a property of a laser with a reference signal to generate a transmit signal, and diverging the transmit signal to illuminate a field of illumination with the transmit signal, wherein the field of illumination includes an object. The method may include receiving, at a sensor, a signal reflected from the field of illumination and the object and comparing a phase of the received signal to a phase the reference signal. The method may include calculating a distance to the object based on the comparing.

Laser ranging and illumination

An image capturing device captures a first image of the scene without illuminating the scene with IR radiation. The image capturing device determines a first value of a measure relating to contrast for the first image. When the first value indicates that a first contrast of the first image less than a first threshold value, the image capturing device captures a second image of the scene while illuminating the scene with IR radiation. The image capturing device determines a second value of the measure relating to contrast for the second image. When a difference between the first contrast and a second contrast, indicated by the second value, is greater than a second threshold value, the image capturing device determines that there is fog in the scene. A computer program and a computer program carrier are also disclosed.

Autofocusing a camera while zooming may include zooming the lens to a first zoom position, measuring a first object distance from the camera to an object on which to focus, determining a first focus start position using the first object distance, performing a first autofocus using the first focus start position as a starting point, thereby determining a first focus position. A first lookup object distance may be determined based on the first determined focus position. A first correction factor may be calculated as a ratio between the first lookup object distance and the first object distance. The lens may be zoomed to a second zoom position, and a second focus position may be determined using a second object distance based on the first object distance and a second correction factor based on depths of field at the second and first zoom positions.

A method and system for luminescence molecular imaging or tomography of a region of interest in a scattering medium is disclosed. The system comprises a non-linear luminescent marker material arranged in the scattering medium, one or more light sources positioned by at least one light source position for exciting said luminescent marker by excitation light emitted by said one or more light sources into an excitation volume, a detector at a luminescent light detection position detecting luminescence from said luminescent marker due to said excitation light, wherein said excitation light comprises pulsed excitation light.

System and method for improved diffuse luminescent imaging or tomography in scattering media

A method and system for luminescence molecular imaging or tomography of a region of interest in a scattering medium is disclosed. The system comprises a non-linear luminescent marker material arranged in the scattering medium. Contrast and resolution of the imaging or tomography is thus improved. The non-linear marker is for instance configured to upconvert incoming light of an illumination wavelength. The non-linear power dependence of the marker enables further improvement of the imaging by using images taken with two or more excitation beams simultaneously.
